What team do you think would actually make the deal?

Well since they officially "put him on the block" it looks like a forgon conclusion. The only problem is that wierd out clause he has in his contract that says if they trade him, he can become a free agent at the end of the year. But since they will be in the same position next year and don't look like they intend on resigning him, it might be better for everyone to start the process sooner rather than later.

The problem with these rent-a-players is that they have very little value on the market. They generate a bunch of interest, but ultimately teams don't want to give up a bunch to sign a guy who will probably test the free agent waters in the offseason.

The Giants are a good fit. They need a 1B and Dunn can play there, have lots of young pitching, and have talked about Teixeira. Dunn could be a cheaper option, but if the Reds ask for Lowry, Cain, or Lincecum, obviously the trade talks wouldn't progress. They could get a nice young future starter in Jon Sanchez and a maybe two major league ready guys. Lefties that throw 95 like Sanchez don't grow on trees, so everyone's interested. That looks like the best fit right now.

Another option being discussed is in the same division with the Padres. They have A-Gonz at first so Dunn could stay in the OF, but if the Pads have to give up Hensley or Meredith, they won't budge. They'd rather do something revolving around Linebrink; and after last year's debacle of trading young bats for bullpen help, I think Krivsky would think long and hard before he tried that again.

He's probably going somewhere in the next month or so.

I think they should try and trade him, but I think what they get in return will be minimal. His contract is up at the end of the year, so whoever gets him will be essentially renting him for 3-4 months. Also, being such a high strikeout guy will also lower his value. I think the fans in cincy will be quite upset if he is traded because they will not get much in return. There are very few teams that would even consider him, but the angels or athletics could use a little more pop in their lineups.

The Dodgers could sure use him, they need some pop in the lineup. He would not have great trade value because every other team knows he wants to try the free agent market when his contract is up, and that would immediately apply if he were traded as stated in his current contract. Anyone that would be willing to take him in a trade would also have to be able to sign him to a new contract and he would be a good fit for the Dodgers.

Why is every player speculated to go to the Yankees?

But no, I don't think he'll go anywhere. That's my gut feeling. Who will the Reds replace him with? Their bountiful young hitting core in AAA? A big free agent who doesn't strike out in 1/3 of his at bats? All answers point to no. Trading him DOES make sense because they'd get much needed pitching help and probably a top-of-the-line prospect out of it, but the Reds haven't pulled off a favorable trade since Arroyo over a year ago. We'll have to wait and see.

A 6'6"slugger. of course,he's going to strike out a lot.I just have a feeling if the Reds trade him to another NL team, it's gong to haunt the Reds for a long time.
He's going to help somebody.
This kind of trade is a "salary dump." the Reds just want to unload a big paycheck.

Yes, if they can get some pitching, and there's always the Yankees, or an AL team that needs a DH. The Reds are a mess.

Well business wise they should trade him, but they will lose at the box office. Of course he has trade value, anyone that hits 40-50 homers a year will do well anywhere. I bet he goes out west.

Yes. Ichiro would be a good fit in Cincy. Also Dunn would supply power if Sexon doesn't hit.

Probably the Yankees, they could use another RF/1B and he would crush the ball out of Yankee Stadium.
