to anyone that said emo or screamo: you don't know what you're talking about. at all. why bother responding if all you're doing is spreading ignorance?
to the author of the initial question: growling and screaming together could be any number of genres; that would be more specific to the band.
as far as genres go, it's probably between death metal and grindcore go, but sludge metal has been known to encompass some as well as thrash, gothic, even doom metal. again, it's more specific to the bands.
if you're looking for bands, try Cannibal Corpse (of course), Deicide, Caninus, Nuclear Death, Suffocation, Incantation, Immolation, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, C0ck and Ball Torture, Cattle-Decaptiation, Anal C.unt, Nasum, Skullhog, Sexorcist, Rotten Sound, Suffering Bastard, White Mice, Otto Von Schirach, Gutto, Electrojesus, ******* Boy, Nunwhore Commando 666, Gut, Nyctophobic, Pumpgun Messiah, Terrorizer, Extreme Noise Terror, Disrupt, Ulcerous Phlegm, Pig Destroyer, Waking the Cadaver, Goretex, Bitchslicer, Origin, Cynic, Brutal Truth,Twodeadsluts Onegoodf.uck, and Zombieflesheater.
