LET ME RECAP :

Sunshine's one time boyfriend from her hometown in Virginia, Kevin Dunbar, has come to Dodge. Recently widowed, he had sent a letter to Sunshine, a few weeks ago....She immediately went to visit him, in hopes of being a good,compassionate friend to lean on. Kevin felt more than mere gratitude for her attentions. His long ago love for her was rekindled. He has arrived in Dodge in the hopes of convincing her that HE is her one true love and NOT Marshal Matt Dillon.

Sunshine and Matt were still laughing when they pulled up in front of the farmhouse. There stood Kevin on the front porch:

Matt:"What the hell are you doing here?!"
Kevin: "I was just about to ask the same of you, Marshal. Actually, now that you got Sunshine home safely, you can just go on. She and I have some things to talk over."
Matt:" Mister........I live here."

Kevin looked at Sunshine and then back to Matt......"So it's like that, huh?"
Matt:" Yep. It's like that. Listen. I'm going to put the horse and buckboard away. Say your goodbyes. When I get back, I don't want to see you. Understand?!"
After he started walking to the barn, Kevin faced Sunshine........"There are very few times that (4.) Time Stands Still in a man's life.....
This is one of those times. I still love you. It's as though we're back where we started.....We're both single again. We've been given a second chance."

Matt watched them from the barn. He knew he had to let Sunshine speak for herself. The trouble is, she wasn't speaking......She just kept looking at Kevin:

AND NOW:

"Dark Side of The Moon"

Matt was gettin uneasier by the moment. He knew that Sunshine loved him....Of that he was certain. What he wasn't certain of were her feelings for Kevin Dunbar. The more he watched the two of them talking, the deeper his concern grew. Typically.......Back in the days he was seeing Kitty, there were some occasions when other men entered the picture.......He would say nothing........He would let her work out her feelings on her own.....He never interfered.
But this was different. He was deeply in love with Sunshine. He wasn't convinced that he should just stand by and see what happens. He had made up his mind to take a stand......
He stopped dead in his tracks. He saw Sunshine reach out and hold his hand. And then he heard these words........"Kevin , you know I love you."
Matt was stunned. As though the (3.) Dark Side Of The Moon
had claimed him, he stood in the shadows. He felt sick. And then he saw something that shook him to the root......He saw Kevin kiss her. (What he doesn't know is that Sunshine did not say she was IN love with him. Matt had eavesdropped JUST after Sunshine was talking about the FRIENDSHIP that she felt for Kevin. The kiss.....Well , the kiss was Kevin grabbing an opportunity to further his cause.) As with most soap operas, the timing stunk!

Matt went back in and saddled his horse. As he rode up to the farmhouse, Sunshine ran out to him.
Sunshine:"Where are you going, Matt?!"
Matt:"I'm staying in Dodge tonight. I've seen enough to know I'm doing the right thing."
Sunshine:"Matt! NO! " He rode off. Kevin reckoned that Matt had caught snatches of their conversation and must have seen the kiss. He watched Matt ride off:
Sunshine:"I need to go after him!!" Kevin stopped her.
Kevin:"Let him go. He needs to sort things out. I 'm beginning to understand the man."

Sunshine started to go in her home, exhausted and bewildered.
Kevin:" I've been saving this for you, for a LONG time ." He took a ring out of his pocket and put it in her hand. Before she could say a word, he got on his horse.......
"(5.) Shine On You Crazy Diamond.......Make her love me again........."I'll see you tomorrow, Sunshine."
She just stood there, totally confused. First Matt deserts her; Then Kevin gives her a diamond ring.

Back in Dodge, Matt unsaddled his horse and went into his office. As luck would have it, Kitty Russell just happened to witness this from her window........"MMMMM.... Trouble in paradise." She tided up a bit in preparation to pay him a little visit.
Matt went into his office. He took some items out of his pocket and put them on his desk......A little (4.) Money and a lovenote he was going to give Sunshine. ( REMEMBER this now.......
it comes back to bite him!!) He undressed and got into his bed........"Well, I'm back in my lousy *** cot in my office!"
He couldn't get to sleep....He tried counting sheep.......they all reminded him of his two little friends back at the farm:

He finally decided to count the bricks in the wall by his bed.
"(1.) Another Brick In The Wall....Okay , that makes 45.......I'm still awake."

In another 20 minutes he finally fell asleep. Kitty peeked through the window........"Oh, God, Matt.......I have missed you so much." She entered his office as quiet as a mouse. Tempted as she was to slip into the bed with him, she opted for a more sophisicated approach. She would simply be VERY nice, very supportive and paramount to her plan.....VERY sober!! As she started to leave, she saw a folded paper on Matt's desk....The love note!!!...."VERY nice.......OOPS!! It blew away." She put it in her pocket.

The traffic is always crazy during the rush hour on Connecticut Ave, going down the Dupont Center. Since Alistar had nothing better to do,sitting and waiting in the traffic, and was getting bored out of his skull, he started talking to the diamond ring that he had bought for Emma.

He thought of the moment he saw the ring at the jewelry store, how he knew it was the perfect ring, and the money he spent on it was worth it, many times over. He smiled and marveled at the way the diamond was catching the rays of the rapidly rising sun and the way it reflected those rays in a kleidoscope of beautiful colors, so he said to the ring, "Keep shining with all your beauty but once my very own beautiful one gets to wear you on her finger, from them on, she will shine on you, crazy diamond."

The thoughts of her, stuck in the rush hour traffic in his car, suddenly proved to be too overwhelming for Alistar, and although he knew she was only a few miles away, she could aswell have been on the dark side of the moon in that very moment. Such was the depth of his feelings of missing her.

For the zillionth time he murmered out loud, "Wish you were here, baby".

Then he looked back at the diamond and thought, this is how we are all building this city, a new couple in love, another family to contribute to the society, another brick in the wall. We build this city, we are the world.

And he started singing till he went around the Dupont Center and reached his destination. He just kept singing.

Prison is not an easy life, as some think it is. Escape is nearly impossible. I worked secretly for months to scrape the mortar from around a brick in my cell, only to find,"Another Brick In The Wall.

Laying on my cot at night, assured that I am on the Dark Side of The Moon, I look at the picture of my sweetheart and "Wish that You were Here. It was the desire to provide for her that put me here. I never got caught stealing "Money", it was the jewelry that did me in. That necklace that she saw, and wanted so much that I just had to get it for her. One diamond embedded in a golden heart. "Shine on You Crazy Diamond, shine on, in the darkness of my cell, prove to me that you were worth the cost.

Pete eased around the alley side of the downtown building, avoiding the dumpster and being careful not to accidently kick any stray trash on the street that didn't quite make it into the container. He'd cased the jewelry store for a week -- knew when they closed, what security service they used, what locks secured the back door, and when police patrolled this part of town. He'd picked this particular night for the heist because it was the new moon, the dark side of the moon.

Pete was not greedy. He had not plans to clean the vaults of jewelry. Instead, he had his eye on just one diamond, a diamond that his girlfriend had checked out for him earlier in the week. It was one magnificent diamond, nearly four carats, yellow in color, that would bring more than a quarter of a million dollars. He could grab it and get out of the store in no time.

Pete was supposed to have an accomplice, John. "Wish you were here," Pete whispered to himself as he jimmied the lock on the back door. John was the lock expert, and was to serve as lookout while Pete was inside the store. Pete had pulled out of the job just the day before, needing to settle with a bookie to whom he owed too much money, too overdue.

After opening the door, Pete tried to pull loose a brick to prop the door open, so he could hear the alley and so he wouldn't have to fool with the lock on the way out. It wouldn't budge. He grabbed at another brick in the wall and finally pulled it loose.

Inside, everything went as planned. Pete found the drawer containing the diamond and easily opened the lock, as he had practiced all week. He held it up to his flashlight and watched it sparkle. "Shine on you crazy diamond," he exclaimed in a whisper.

Pete reached the alley door and kicked the brick away, only to find himself covered by half a dozen policemen with guns drawn. "How . . . how did you find out?" he stuttered. I'd planned this job so carefully."

"Your friend John," one of the officers replied. He was facing charges for breaking, entering, and felony murder in a case where he was driving the getaway car. He was willing to exchange information for a reduced sentence." Pete spent the next 15 years in prison, hoping to run into John to settle their score. John was placed in a witness protection program, working as a security officer for a bank.
