I went in for my first OB appointment at 9 weeks last Monday and the doctor had trouble finding the heartbeat. She finally said she was able to see it, as did my husband, but I never saw the "flicker". She asked me to schedule another appointment, which ended up being this morning. The ultrasound showed that the baby is about 8 weeks along and has a heartbeat somewhere in the 80s, rather than in the 140+ range like it should be. She also said that the baby is not growing properly and I have a high chance of miscarrying within the next week. She made me an appointment for next week to see if the heart is still beating. She said if I do miscarry, I may or may not have bleeding and cramping. If I do miscarry without bleeding, would that be cause for a D&C? I just wanted to know if anyone has ever dealt with something similar to this. I took it really hard this morning, but I don't know what to expect or how to feel. Thanks....

I'm so sorry you have to go through this, but that does not sound good. A fetus that is not growing properly probably has genetic abnormalities. It will probably expire soon, but you may not miscarry on your own. If you do not start bleeding, but the heart has stopped bleating and all growth has stopped, they will do a D&C.

Get a second opinion. If you pass via with the D&C now you'll spend the relaxation of your existence pondering. Its viable that the little one began out developing after which lately stopped. If no heartbeat is the one signal then there's a danger the health care professional simply couldnt discover it. I dont desire to get your hopes up for those who do miscarry. If you had been going to I believe you might be bleeding or have another signs. I definitely wish a health care professional would not be that so much of a quack however you not ever realize! well good fortune

They said that once you see the heartbeat you have a less than 1% chance of miscarrying. Just wait it out. Dont stress because stress can cause you to miscarry and it can cause your baby to have a lower heartbeat.

I'm so sorry, but it does seem as though you are miscarrying. If you do not bleed it out you will require a D&C.
