Uhhh.. they were decent like 10 years ago .. actually they were outdated when the game came out. The only people that still play it are folks that either ...
1. started playing all those years ago and have such an investment of time and energy that they would feel stupid for walking away now.
or
2. People that didn't do their research before they started trying to play it.
Suggestion:
Try rubies of eventide.
Much much better graphics, actual classes you can choose from.. lots more items, lots of places to explore.. real 3-d environments, etc.
Check out the website and see for yourself.
And hey, it's free.

What people dont understand is that runescape is a WEBSITE based mmorpg. If it was on CD then yeah..they would have more stuff even downloading it would be awesome. But its on website its barely even a game. So runescape is awesome and jagex staff work to the best of their abilities since website capabilities are very very limited unlike downloadable and cd-rom games

Compared to older style MMORPGs or MUDs, yes. Compared to anything released within the past 5 years, absolutely not. If you have a computer that was made post 2000 you can probably find something better looking.

Not really. Check out Tabula Rasa, and Pirates of the Burning Sea. Even City of Heroes(awesome game) has better graphics. I watched a video of runescape awhile back, don't know how people play it.

I never played it though I have seen shots of Runescape, and I would say they are rather poor quality. However, it is free.
Check out Guild Wars if you want to see good graphics for a game that you don't have to pay monthly for. You do however have to buy the campaign(s) you want to play. 3 are available which range from 29.99 - 49.99 but totally worth it!

So So. By the way, I'm not supporting Runescape or any other games, but I would like to say that many people have different views of different games. Some may say Runescape sux and some says it rox. Some may say Pokemon sux and some says it rox. Let us not comment about other people's choice of game.

It's subjective really. Are you comparing it to free MMORPGs, where the graphics would be on par, or are you comparing them to the graphics of World of Warcraft (where Runescape's graphics are definatly outclassed).

are you kidding me? i will tell you how they look like, they are even worst than the option that you can pick low quality on some games to speed up the game.
