The fact that he went to Notre Dame and that Charlie Weis was a former NFL offensive coordinator and made Quinn look like a decnt QB is the ONLY reason everyone thinks he is soooo great. Now, personally, I dont think Quinn could pass his way out of a soaking wet paper bag, he has a wet noodle for an arm, and cant throw a tight spiral to save his life but if he proves me wrong, so be it. I like to see rookies come in and have decent careers and he is no exception. But all the hype surrounding him is just plain idiotic. As soon as he gets in a preseason game and gets blown up by a blitzing LB or gets his first pass picked off by an NFL CB then he will revert to his old self (the "self" that played against OSU and LSU in the bowl games)

in the beginning he's a standout Notre Dame participant, ND has no longer had a participant as marketable as him for a protracted time. This united states of america loves ND so anybody loves Brady Quinn. Secondly he has been whilst in comparison with Tom Brady using fact of Charlie Weis on the helm of ND. i understand if he had performed for BC he could have had minimum interest regardless of the undeniable fact that he's in all probability good adequate to have been drafted interior the 1st 3 rounds. If he were at Ohio State the previous couple of years he could have gained maximum hsi bowl video games and had lots extra valuable WR's to artwork with. Now he is going Cleveland the place he has minimum expertise back, we can see how he does, i've got faith he's being arranged to fail... we are going to see.

The fact that he quarterbacked 2 top 10 teams with top 25 talent. Notre Dame didn't have a running game, mediocre receivers and average defense and yet Quinn still got them in the top 10. Jamarcus Russell on the other hand had a ton of talent and a great defense that helped him win games. He is the more overrated of the two. You will see in about 5 years.

To be overrated he would have needed to be drafted higher. He is over-hyped. The media loves pretty boys at QB and the fact that he went to Notre Dame is a huge bonus. He has a weak arm, questionable decision making, and apparently a belief that he is great. Lose the weak arm and you are talking about Ryan Leaf. Don't believe the media, he isn't Tom Brady and won't ever be. It is sad because if he wouldn't have been so hyped he could have sat on the bench for a team with a better quarterback, learned and eventually developed into a starter on par with Chad Pennington (the weakest armed starter in the NFL). Now he will have to live up to the hype and when he can't he will end up leaving the league while he could still have productive years ahead of him.

I agree about never winning the big game. He never did shine or do well when his team really needed him. But, he started 3 1/2 years in college, trained under the best offensive coach (Weis) in the NCAA for 2 years, played in a pro-style offense all four years, and has all the mechanics down already. Size wise and skill wise, he's the perfect build for an NFL quarterback. It will be interesting to see how he does. I think he will be able to shake off the big-game jitters after a year or two in the NFL. But you must remember that he had a terrible defense that left him in horrible starting position or in need of a comeback, which he did in miraculous fashion twice (UCLA and Mich State). In the USC game, he made a nice drive at the end to put his team ahead. The defense just couldnt seal the deal.

what you are describing would relate to Brett Favre, Tom Brady, Steve McNair, Donovan McNabb, and Marc Bulger. B Quinn represents a lot of promise. I agree Mier and Powlus were grossly overrated because the balance of the teams they played on in College were so good. Now, I'm not putting him in the superbowl just yet. But, I think you will see him develop a lot further than Jamarcus Russell who is a system QB ala M. Vick and Rex Grossman

Good Question! It's amazing how the media can hype a guy up. The media so badly wants Quinn to be a star - they pubbed him up to be the first pick in the draft - we saw what the NFL thought about that. I felt sorry for him on draft day because he bought into it. And then, the media had the nerve to scorn some of the teams that passed him up.
I too wonder what he did that was so great. He virtually disappeared in the real important games.

I will agree with you on the fact that Brady Quinn is overrated, and has not done anything on paper to prove himself. While this is true, if you actually watch him in the game, he puts those passes where they should be. He actually passes better than Vince Young, who now starts for the Titans. He is still nowhere near as good as people say he is though.

I think he is overrated myself. You have to understand he is getting this hype because the was coached by Charlie Weis and goes to Notre Dame. There offense is simple and easy to execute. America is looking for the Tom Bradyish QB. During the draft all I kept hear was how efficient he was. He stacks stats against the sorry teams.

What did Tom Brady do at Michigan?...He also went low...now he's gonna be regarded in the same light as Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw, and before the Sugar Bowl, what did JaMarcus Russell do at LSU?...Get a grip, Brady basher...
