because the only group of people who know less about what's going on than Congress is the people who vote for them.

That simply isnt true.

Before Midterm elections, the White House was run by Republicans, the Senate was Repubican, the House of Representatives was Repubican, and the majority of Justices on the Supreme were Republican.

Of all the Senators and Representatives in Congress at the time, the majority were Republican, so the majority of Congressmen who didn't read the Iraq report were ALSO Republican.

After Mid term elections in November 2006, a great number of Republicans who hadn't read the Iraq Report were not re-elected, the American people having decided the almost criminal negligence the Republican Party displayed for 6 years was not acceptable.

So your contention the lazy Congressmen who didn't read the Iraq report were re-elected is not true, or at leats not totally.

People see their politics nationally but do not act locally. Let me explain: We see the congress as a whole and say, "My God! Those congressman and women are jacking the place up. We really have to change this." Yet the only time we hold our local congressman or senator to task is when election time rolls around.

Then he or she will rattle off any little bones that they brought back to the district to which we say, "This is the only guy fighting for us" even if he is involved in the biggest pieces of crap ligislation that come off of the hill.

When we as voters start holding our local congressmen accountable for the bad votes they make on our behalf and removing them on election day, then we will see them make the votes that make us all happy with government.

Go read more about this would you please. They all were given very detailed briefings on the subject, it wasn't like they were given a report, didn't know any of the facts and just voted yes. The reports were intended to go into greater detail and provide in overview of the briefings they were already receiving. They knew for the most part what they were voting for.

I don't care if they READ it or not.
Most of these Senators and Congress people have staffs of 20 or so people that proof read these lenghty documents.

What I am NOT happy about is the stuff they were reading (or supposed to be reading) was chocked full of slanted intelligence to get us into this war.

sorry, but not me...both the ones I can vote for, voted against the war...Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow. Both of their jobs are safe, with Debbie reelected again last year, and Carl up again this year. He was also on the Iraq Study Group. I guess it doesn;t matter though, since Bush doesn;t care what they found.

They're gluttons for punishment, it seems.
But, anybody knows (and knew) that Iraq was (and is) almost defenseless...
But of course, the war was gonna happen, whether or not the pretext was legitimate. They had to gain control of the oil.

Because most Americans don't know squat about their government and when they vote, they vote for the incumbant most of the time
