Does this place happen to be just for those whose native language is English or is it a global community?

Give them a chance to learn! After all, you won't be able to manage to communicate half as good as they do if you were taken to a non-English speaking community!

You are right. I took a man to task because he was criticizing a person asking a question's spelling. I let him know that the person asking the question was NOT a native speaker.

What really amazes me is that many of these people would not do nearly as well in OTHER PEOPLE'S LANGUAGES.

I speak many languages and it can be hard to revert back and forth.

Keep doing it and good luck.

I don't make fun of people who obviously don't speak English as a native language. (Has anyone else noticed that most Indian people here start their questions with "Sir"?) Anyway, I try to answer their question as best I can, assuming I can understand it.

The only people I make fun of are the ones who abbreviate EVERYTHING in that God-awful internet slang (not sure of the real name for it), or who ask hateful questions on purpose, hoping to stir up trouble.

I never have a problem with people who struggle with English PROVIDING they have at least bothered to use the spell checker and avoided abbreviations.

If you cannot speak English properly, it REALLY isn't helpful to then convert to "txt talk" - as you get wrong abbreviations with typos in a grammatically incorrect soup of words.

No abbreviations + spell check. Perfectly happy.

It boils down to whether they took a little time and effort to make themselves as clear as they could.
