I am a model and I model with guys sometimes. You have to b muscular and have a great face. Go to abercrombie and look at those guys. They are what the industry looks for in guys. If you add a picture I can tell you if you would be what they are looking for and give you a few good places.

AMBITION foremost
Be versatileand able to pull off many different looks and styles
Experience with the camera ( that comes over time)
A great portfolio that displays your versatality-- you will need to find good photographers to do this
You also need to be responsible and professional in the work environment, that includes everything from being polite, to showing up early/ontime being responsible and mature..and willing to take any jobs even though they may not be the most glamorous, everyone needs to get started somewhere
Appearance: different photographers and companies look for different types of body types, obviously you will need to be fit and have a clean cut look...
depending on how old you are ( usually are 18 and up /21 and up jobs depending on if alcohol sampling is involved ) there are many positions in promotional modeling ( if you are outgoing and can talk to people ) which is a great way to start your career
In the modeling business be prepared to suck up too,
and here is your competition :http://www.modelmayhem.com/
just one of many amateur /new model sites, if you have some pictures you could post them on here and get more feedback/learn about the industry..
hope I was of some help and good luck :)

-The height ranges from 5'10 very athletic to 6'2 fashion
-Clothing size is standard around a 40 regular - 42 long
-Guys must work out and stay in top physical condition
-Good muscle and tone with strong abs
-Male Models must have good skin and hands - yes guys use moisturizer - actually there are many cosmetic companies have their own men's lines.
-Hair goes from long to short and back again in no time - the guys right now all have the longer hair - more of a surfer look with a bit of the five o'clock shadow .
-Guys with hair that is slightly salt and pepper is always a good look for business (but you're young so its ok)
-Always be pleasant to the photographers and booking agents and the clients
-Sometimes the client will look for the male model on set to set the pace of the shoot.
-Learn quickly and take direction well.
-Take head shots and several other photographs; they should vary between dressy and casual looks.
-Photos should be clear and up to date, and when you send them make sure no one else is in the photos but you.
-Send photos to agency, and call to visit the agency in person..
and remember:
-Great personality is key for guys - some guys make it to the top on their personalities alone.. well they have to look good
Good Luck!! =]

It all depends on what type of modeling you would like to do whether its runway, catalog, magazines, advertisements they vary greatly. Given the lack of details all I could recommend is that you be fit and be at least 5'9
