I’ve always enjoyed walking in the woods or mountains, traveling trails seldom used, only to discover sparkling rivers or cascading waterfalls spilling their load over the smooth rocky ledge. Being outside uplifts my sprits and helps me to forget all my problems. I’m continually in awe of everything that is around me and wonder how nature can survive freezing winters only to come back stronger and bigger during the summer months. I love to see multi-colored flowers that shyly emerge from the crusty, hard ground and slowly stand straight and proud, as if saluting the sun. It’s like I’m reborn with them as I absorb their beauty and strength.
It seems like I’ve been waiting all my life for this trip I’m taking today, as I parked my car at the Rangers station. I got out my backpack and hoisted it over my shoulders, removed my walking stick, verified I had a working cell phone, locked my car and went inside the station. Here, I gave the Ranger my schedule and a copy of the path I was planning on taking. Ranger Morris tried to talk me out of my adventure as it isn’t advisable for people to hike without a partner, because this is bear and mountain lion country, plus accidents have been know to happen, but my desire and need for solitude out ruled his advice, so I headed up the mountain.
The first part of the trail was easy to follow as it was clearly marked and many other explores had flattened the vegetation making my trek up the mountain easy. As I walked, a thick fog descended and enveloped the vegetation in hazy clouds. The birds in the trees seemed to like this change as they were doing a long slow beautiful dance between the moisture covered branches.
I made good time going up the mountain, not that it mattered, as I had no schedule, I just wanted to savor every sight and sound that it had to offer. The fog had lifted and the sun was once again blazing down. I walked for a couple more hours until I came upon a pond that had a nice oak tree beside it. As I was getting hungry, I sat under the tree and ate lunch, then took a short nap. You came to me in my dreams and everything was wonderful while you loved me, but life is a highway, and all can change, sometimes without a moments notice. I melt when I think about the last night we were together and you told me that you were leaving me. I remember prayin’ for daylight so that the sun could help lift me out of my sadness. I was hoping my journey up this mountain would help me put to rest the chapters that we shared, but thus far, that has not happened. I don’t want to forget you; I just want to move on, so with any luck I can be reborn like the wildflowers are and come back stronger the next time.

"Good God, look at the reflection of the moon over the ocean, it is almost magical!!!", exclaimed Luna, she always felt she had some mystical connection with the moon, because her name meant, the moon in Italian. Bruno smiled affectionately and said, "Although I have been praying for daylight all through my darkest hours in life, I can't help but wish to stay in this darkness illuminated by nothing but the moonlight and the stars that are shining in your eyes, I have been waiting all my life for a moment like this, and nothing that the fate throws in my way could ever cast a shadow over that luminance, while you loved me."
Luna's heart was bursting with happiness as they continued their long, slow, beautiful dance, on his terrace, under the moonlight over looking to the ocean. She thought to herself how incredibly pure this moment felt, surreal and real at the same time, she said, " I melt everytime you go so poetic on me. After all that we have been through, this moment in time makes everything else fade away, makes everything worth it, afterall, life is a highway, it gets pretty crazy and dangerous out there, but this time we both took the right exists and turns and ended up in this magical spot, and I want to stay here forever, I just want to freeze this very moment and live this happiness forever."
Bruno playfully twirled and dipped her and then held her even closer while still dancing to the rhythm of the music and said; " What do you say when words are not enough? All I can say is, God bless the broken road that led me straight to you".
And a star winked.
THE END
Hope you like this, I added one more Rascal Flatts song title for you.
