I am 16 weeks pregnant, and thin. Well, I was thin, I got quite the hard lil belly showing now, but I felt this flutter in my lower abdomin. It was like...I dunno, maybe a gas bubble, but I had no gas. Sorry maybe too much info. My mother felt us at 14 weeks, I am just curious, could this be the baby? It happened two days ago, and then not again since. I think maybe it`s too early to feel with the first? I was laying down when I felt it.
I know soon I`ll be able to feel it and know for sure what it was, I am just curious.

yes its your baby. usually happens when you're laying down most of the time. I've felt my first flutters as early as 7 weeks with my 2nd pregnancy. Im petite and thin! I definately know the difference between flutters and gas bubbles. The flutters feels like there's something swimming around in my belly or butterflies flapping its wings on my tummy.

Congrats! I would definitely say it was the baby:) I remember when I felt that first flutter at 17 weeks, it was like okay that was different. I didn't feel it again for a couple more weeks but when I did I knew that is what I felt before. Before you know you will be getting karate kicks to the ribs and bladder:P Congrats again and have fun feeling that little one swim! It is not too early the earliest you feel the baby is 16 weeks:)

It could be the baby moving, but most women start feeling the baby move at 19-20 weeks. I'm preg now with my 2nd and that is what happened with me. If you haven't felt it since, probably was gas/whatever, but there is no definite answer either way. If it makes you happy, think what you like - a happy pregnant woman is the best for the baby (and everyone around her. =) And, like you said, you'll be feeling the baby move a lot soon enough - mine is keeping me up with her kicking!
Also, just a unsolicited word of advice - don't do too many comparisons with your mother's recollections of how many years ago? - Better to check against more current advisors like "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy". Also, a really great online forum for all types of questions is at www.babycenter.com Lots of women on that all day. Good Luck!

Cudve been the baby... but u r too early for that I feel. Normally for the first child the movements start around 20-22nd week. it can be felt a bit earlier for the 2nd child though. be patient and wait and watch. although once u start feeling the movements keep a constant watch on it bec anytime u stop feeling it is an emergency. All the best.

Our Dr. said the first feeling of the baby was called the lightening. Felt it with our second child, about 31/2-4 mo. but didn't feel the movement again till later. Hope this helps.

At 16 weeks that would be the very special "butterfly-wings" you feel, and it's your little baby.
You will be the only one that can feel this, and it wont last too long because soon you'll feel the baby moving and kicking! Enjoy this amazing part of pregnancy.
