I was wondering wheather I should get Civilization 4 or Rise of Nations? I would like a game with a great city building feature and advanced tech tree. Which should I get?

I haven't played Civ4 yet, but I have played Civ 1-3 and Rise of Nations. From what I have played, they each have completely different gameplays. Civilization is turn based and Rise of Nations is real-time strategy. I know that Civilization has much more in the way of technology advancements.

Neither one has "city-building" per se. Rise of Nations allows you to place certain buildings within a radius of the city center, but it is no where close to the detail of the Impressions Games or the Sim City Games.

Civ4 doesn't allow you to hand design the city, instead you select what building the city should construct and the people build it where they want. Civ4 definitely has a better tech tree.

I can't really compare the combat, as Rise of Nations is am RTS while Civ4 is a Turn Based Strategy.
