One of the best young pitchers to come along in quite a while...I couldn't believe it when I heard that his prev career high in strikeouts was 7.

There is a reason he won rookie of the year. He can throw a 102 mph fastball past the best of them, adn he can follow it with a nasty breaking ball. His curve ball was fantastic, as he hit every corner with it. His location was money as well. In order to throw a no no, you have to be on your A game with location and he sure was.

Nefi and Mags made stellar plays to save the no hitter but it was mainly a domination of Verlander mowing threw the brewers lineup.

Control was the key here. He worked the entire strike zone which didn't allow any of the Brewers players to sit on a specific pitch.

His ability to change speeds with his pitches also threw off the timing off the batters. Anytime you can throw 102 in the 9th tells you he was taking something off his pitches during the game and preserving energy.

Aside from the 4 walks he looked like classic Pedro for one game.

Overpowering, he is a solid pitcher and when he has everything going, like last night, he is as difficult to hit as anyone. His problem is that he doesn't always have movement on his fastball and when that occurs he is hitable. The Tigers are really good again this year and a solid Verlander for the duration of the season just might make it a "Tigers" year.

Not perfect but very very good. Throwing 102 in the 9th is ridiculous. He is a great young pitcher. Definitely one to keep watching.

Of course it was awesome.

The last time a Tiger threw a no hitter they went on to win the World Series....that, my friend, is a good omen.

i didn't see it but i watched him baffle the mets last weekend. the mets are a pretty good hitting team and verlander laid waste to them. he's got some nasty stuff. great location for a velocity pitcher. i'm sure he's got more no hitters in his future.
