No, I definitely would not wear that together. An all black dress really isn't appropriate etiquette to wear to a wedding either. Nowadays it is said to be ok but for fall and winter weddings; not summer though. Honestly though, the black dress and white espadrilles will not work. They are so many light colored dresses out right now, I would go with something like that. ***In response to other answers: No they don't have to be matchy-matchy but they have to look good with the dress and those won't mainly because of the espadrille part of the shoe, solid white shoes with white accessories maybe, but not white ESPADRILLES. If you are set on the dress then go for some diff shoes and vice versa. I'm not against the wearing black to a wedding I wish just giving that info since you do seem to care about what others might think. I think silver would look nice with black and unless they are black, no color espadrilles would really work with black.

1. I like it - add some white accessories and it will be even better
2. Mixing and matching can be fun to an extent (no navy and black or anything)
3. I wore a cute black dress to my cousins wedding and there is nothing wrong with that - no need to follow those silly rules
4. I am currently at work wearing black pants, white heals, and a shirt with a white and black design on it - so far I haveactually gotten a lot of compliments
5. It really doesn't matter what others think. If you like it then you should wear it!

I would not wear white shoes with a black dress....unless the dress has lots of white in it....stick with black shoes, it would be a much better choice. But then again, I would have to see it to know for sure it looks ok or not, and seeing that it won't be possible, well you will have to really be the judge of it, and if you like it then really that is all that matters. Have fun at the wedding!

RE:
Can I wear white shoes with a black dress?
I just bought a dress for a wedding I'm going to that is black and is a knit, t-shirt type material. I found white canvas material espadrilles. I personally think they look good together, (both are casual, but don't look casual if that makes sense), but I just want to make sure I'm...

It really doesn't matter what other people think as long as you feel comfortable. But with todays fashion you will probably be able to pull it off. Besides, you are wearing some white with it so its not like you bleached your shoes. Go on and wear it, who knows, someone out there will probably love it and end up buying the same outfit. GOOD LUCK!!!

You're wearing black to a wedding? That's not the best color choice. Light colors (other than white) are best for weddings. The shoes would probably look better with a light color anyways.

Go for it. As they say on What not to wear, The shoes don't have to match, it just has to coordinate. It's before labor day, too. So go ahead! If you feel uncomfortable about not matching, get a white purse.

If you wear a white canvas belt and/or white fashion accesories such as large white beads and bracelette, a white clutch, white scarf or hair barretts, it is not only OK, but great! White and black are the sophisticated color combos of this summer season! However, without the white added items, you will look unfashionable. Please remeber NO BLACK HOSE with this outfit. Only "nude" or colorless stockings. Have fun at the wedding.
