I'm currently reading Bleak House after having seen the PBS production of it with Gillian Anderson (yes, Scully from The X-Files!) It's really good, and quite funny as well.

Some critics say David Copperfield, some A Tale of Two Cities, some Great Expectations. I personally prefer Tale of Two Cities. The most popular, of course, is A Christmas Carol.

I liked david copperfield best, but he was such a good author that there were several other great novels. A Christmas Carol, Great expectations and a Tale of two cities are all very good.

I think that would depend on your taste. A Tale of Two Cities is a pretty standard answer, simply because many people have read it. Personally, I think it is a REALLY drawn out novel.

I would recommend Oliver Twist and Great Expectations.
