Ok... long story short... got the amazingly annoying "winsrv" error blue screen of death after trying to instal SP2.

I know the processes as far as recovery go...

But... will using the "repair" console OR reinstalling windows...

will that erase all my documents? (pictures, music, word files)

This procedure will insure that all your files and programs remain intact:

the recovery console I dont think will help you.. but a repair install of windows (it gets through the initial part of the install, then looks for existing windows installs, and if it finds one, asks if you want to repair it.. ) will

doing a repair install will keep any documents/programs you already have installed... it just repairs the OS..

yes both processes will erase your saved data. can you get into the startup screen by pressing F8 and starting in safe mode? try this and see if you can do a system restore.
