The Sims 2, and in the past just regular Sims, they are so much fun, controlling and making family.

Off the computer I would say all the Zelda games, I don't know how I became addicted to it, maybe it is genetic because my dad used to play it....hmmmm

Runescape is addictive for online games, I have quit playing 2 or 3 times before, but for some reason I keep coming back........

My favorite game for the last year has been Second Life on the web and I just love it!!! It is a virtual world and is great for any or all ages. It caters to all ages, lifestyles, tastes, hobbies, fantasies and interests. It is so invloved or can be played to not such an extreme. I have made many new friends and have even met some personally. It has taken this 31 year old housewife off the couch and away from in front of the TV and given her a new beginning. I don't like bars or clubs and here I can meet people safely and enjoy anything Real Life offers (well just about). It is a blessing and has changed my life as well as provided me with some truely great new people in my life.

Why is it so addicting? This game provides an all but real life on the web. It is free and has games inside of the game. You can get a job or not. Be anything or anywhere you like. You can build, shop, create, make relationships, explore your sexuality/fantasies amongst other things. Just amazing! I didn't used to be the total "Gamer", but I guess I am now and I love it!

Over the years, more and more emphasis has been placed
on individual achievement and competition and less and less
on family, social interaction or group cooperation. With the
advent of the computer, people are able to be alone yet
have a huge extended network of others at their fingertips.
This includes game partners, chat rooms, sharing just
about everything with the whole world without leaving your
house. You can have serious conversations in your underwear. You can win a chess game with a Russian
master. You can get free therapy from a hundred sources,
or something great to serve for dinner. There's no pressure
in any direction from anybody about anything, but all the
challenges are there when it suits you. Personally, my
addiction is Scrabble Blast followed by Yahoo Answers
(where I'm able to exchange helpful ideas about life with
everyone). Scrabble Blast is fast, pits you against the
best wordsmiths out there and gives you goals to achieve
and cudos when you get there. Yahoo Answers always has
a little present for you in the morning when you log on in
the form of a "best answer". Love it all.....and this coming
from someone who swore on her mother's grave she
would NEVER get a computer. Haha.

At 84 years of age, I am now alone, with no family, cannot even have a dog because the building in which I live does not allow them, and I have outlived most , if not all, of my friends. I love my computer because it has become my faithful companion. It keeps me in touch with the world, and above all it permits me to revisit places that brought me so much pleasure over the rears like Venice; Florence; Rome: Madrid';
Yellowstone National Park. Washington D.C.' and many more countries and cities. Since I find walking difficult, I can sit and visit the great Museums and even listen to wonderful music. Above all, I now have a great number of new and young "Computer Friends". I think of my computer as "the magic machine".

i love the internet. what teen doesn't? the average teenager spends at least 3 hours on the computer a day. the things i believe are most addicting are, email, IM, myspace, and google. first of all. about the email and IM it can be REAL addictive. do you ever see written letters from teen to teen thru the actual mailbox?? NEVER !! its easier. some teens dont even wait for email and IM. and myspace, mabye not JUST myspace but facebook too. its a way for teens to connect. to exspress themselves. im sure they dont just have a myspace either. they probably have several pges like that. google. who doesnt love looking up tunes, Jonny Dep, new movies, mp3 players, and shopping? things like that get the us to the web and we get addicted and forget that there is a real world out there!!

When I was first out on my own, Nintendo 64 was new. I lived with a guy who had one. (My BF and I lived with another couple - the guy ot the other couple owned the house) We rented Zelda from the video store and kept it for a month!!! I had to pay a big fine. But we played it every day all day. We made this huge map on cardboard with this grid. It outlined where everything was. It was insane. :) I literally DREAMED Zelda music every night.

I still get addicted to games, but if I dream about them, I stop playing them.

Good luck! :)

playing curve ball is addicting its found on a web site but I saved that webpage and "stole" the game so I could playi t offline its addicting becuase you cant find something much like it in the real world also I love a game called halo its addicting because you get in someone else shoes (a supersoldier ) and save the earth against aliens

I also love games that require a bit of creatity and tactics like counter strike I love doing clever attacks on others tricking them, throwing someting in their face that they dont expect they dont what hit them until they died

interactions with other people that we cant experience in this world sounds right

great question. i like pool, qwerty, word jong, perfect pair solitaire, and many other games at pogo.com. i love the older video games like donkey kong, burger time, and crash bandicoot, etc. i think computers are so addictive because you get instant gratification and the sky is the limit as far as research and shopping go. good luck on your project!!

EDITS: i totally forgot about all the king's quest series. my kids and i used to play it together...what a blast! my kids (adults) are total world of warcraft fiends. i can barely follow along when i hear them talking about it. lol.

It this really random game where you have to arrange furniture in room-friendly way. I love it cos it gives me something to do without talking up my full attention (so I can still think or talk or whatever) and I just want to get my score up..... its a wanting for success I suppose.
