Wikipedia has two good lists of this.

The first is using nominal currency values. If in doubt, this is the list you are after:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_%28nominal%29

If you want PPP rankings, you may want to use this list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_%28PPP%29

PPP basically tries to adjust the list for the relative purchasing power of a currency... a complex concept. Stick with the first list unless you want PPP.

Although PPP (purchasing power parity) is one metric for compaing the economies of diverse nations, it is by no means sufficient. For one thing, it tells us nothing about the distribution of wealth within each country. If all that PPP is held by one person, an oil sheik selling off his nation's petroleum for example, that could very well leave the rest of the nation in poverty. I would hardly call that a good economy.

And the PPP per capita fails to indicate distribution too. For example, that sheik...divide his oil based PPP by the number of people in his country and you still have no indication of how that GDP is actually distributed among the working class.

A derived metric, like number of mobile phones per capita, could be used as a proxy measure of wealth distribution for instance. Mobile phones are an indication of the availability of discretionary purchasing; that is, mobile phones are clearly not a necessity of life...like food, shelter, clothing. So their ownership indicates some extra money to buy things that are not essential to life.

The EU has about 1 mobile phone per capita for example. China has about 1/3 mobile phone per capita. And Saudi Arabia shows about 1/2 mobile phone per capita. Finally, the U.S. is using close to 3/4 mobile phone per person. Bermuda, which ranks number one on PPP per capita, also has nearly a 3/4 mobile phone per capita. On that basis, I'd say the EU is doing a better job of distributing its wealth to the common folk than any of the above countries.

By the way, as Wiki can be suspect as a reference, I'd suggest the CIA Fact Book for PPP ranking. The Fact Book is updated almost daily; so it contains the most recent data available. Then compare what Wiki gives with the Fact Book as a sanity check. [See source.]
