I think you should wait till she's off. You two can celebrate it any day. You don't know what could be going on at her job right now, and maybe she really shouldn't call in sick.....

Yes, it's unreasonable. I know I wouldn't be able to get away with it. Some people just have a harder time getting away from work.

Yes - you're being selfish to expect people to drop everything to come to your birthday party.

You can certainly invite them, but you'd be childish if you were to act put out because they have to work that day.

That depends- is she paid hourly? That could be a pretty good chunk of her check if she is.
