If the Sox pitchers remain healthy, then I don't think the Yankees will catch them. Their only chance, in my opinion, is to have the Sox suffer the same kind of injury woes that befell New York earlier in the season.
I think the Yankees need to just keep winning for now and hope that they can climb into wildcard contention. Division championships really don't mean much, and making the playoffs is all that matters.

It might be a better shot for the Yankees to catch the Red Sox than make it as a wild card this year. Both the Tigers and the Indians seem to be the real deal and both might finish the season with a better record than the Red Sox. A season is always a series of ups and downs and the Red Sox have not really seen an extended down period thus far. The Yankees are 9.5 games behind the Red Sox now and I really look for it to be a "dog fight" down the stretch. Under normal circumstances you would think the Yankees could never overcome this lead but the Yankees are not a normal team and I give them a shot. I believe there is a real good chance that one or the other (Yankees or Red Sox) will not go to the playoffs this year.

noooooooooooooo just cause they got Roger Clemens dont mean they will pass the Red Sox. Also Roger Clemens is going to like pitch every 5 days so on the others days if the yankees dont hit they will never pass the Red Sox and plus the Red Sox are the hottest team in baseball.

if the sox pitchers stay consistent all season, then no they wont, even if the yanks keep on a tear
but the past has proven that the red sox choke with less than 30 games to go
anyone remember 2005. 6 game lead going into september for boston. finished behing the yanks
we'll see

Here's hoping they don't, but I would never bet against it! If the pitching continues the way they are going, then I think the Sox should be ok. The Yanks are on a roll right now.

Nope, Red Sox have what the Yankees wish they had. Consistent pitching. Bosox have great staters and an unbelieveable bullpen. Yankee fans can only hope that the Tigers, Twins, and Indians start to die down so they can at least win the Wild Card.

Heck yeah they will.
The Yanks talent is really starting to show.
The pitching: great.
The hitting: spectacular.
So what that the Yanks got off to a slow start.
The Nationals were leading their division last year, and then totally missed the playoffs.
All that matters is the standings @ the end of the season, not the standings in May or whatever.
That is, unless you're the Royals.
Then it doesn't matter @ all.

No way. The Yankee's aren't a bad team, but the Sox are way to good to be caught.

Considering how quickly the Yankees have made up 3 games on the Red Sux, it's only a matter of time.
