Well, instead of having the foreign kings ordering them about, they have the local, displaced countrymen of foreign kings ordering them about.

The Declaration probably meant more to blacks at the time it was written than American Indians. But as time wore on and the American Indians became assimilated into our culture or killed off it took on the same meaning to them that we have today. A paper written by a group of patriots declaring their independence from Great Britain.
