I have a 55 gallon with 4 Rainbowfish. I am thinking of adding 3 bala sharks. I realize that they will outgrow this tank, and plan to upgrade as they grow (next tank 125). I know that bala's are not agressive, but that my rainbowfish can be. Does anyone see any potential problems with this setup?

I don't really see a problem as long as the balas are near the size of the rainbows or larger. Balas can take care of themselves and rainbows aren't generally that aggressive.

If you plan on upgrading in the near future that would sound like a great setup, but remember when you get big fish they live for a long time. Bala's are not aggressive at all and actually are schooling fish that like to be with one another. But remember the tank would need to be upgraded as they grow pretty fast. I used to have a bala shark and in the middle of the night you'ld hear a popping sound.. it's them going up to the surface for air, pretty neat if you ask me.
