Evolutionist nuts? Oh you mean SCIENTISTS. Hint - this is the SCIENCE section where SCIENCE is discussed.

If I want to talk about superstitious mumbo jumbo or quote passages from the Bible, I'll do it in the appropriate section.

Its exactly that. Astronomy attempts to explain the creation of things through natural means, and Religious extreamests will attempt to slam anything that contradicts their pressious little book. Throughout history, scientists used to worry about voicing a theory on the premisis that they would be exicuted if they were wrong as it was agianst their belief systerm Who was it that discovered another planet, but kept it secret until he was on his death bed...

Some are religious zealots that see science as a threat. Just as the catholic church kept human development at zero during the 500 years of the darkages the zealots today seek to discredit science at every chance they get. This for the purpose of casting humanity into another darkage where the zealots once more have all the power.

Others, however, ask very intelligent and valid questions. They actually seek knowledge and when they get a clear and honest answer, without sarcasm and ridicule, they can actually start realizing that science is based on truth and facts and that it is not a bunch of lies or conspiracies. So keep an open mind when the religious "nuts" ask questions here. You just might help them open theirs.

For the same reason there are so many "evolutionist nuts" in the astronomy section . Have you ever noticed that it`s only the "evolutionist nuts" that complain ?

Is it because they feel threatened by the "religious nuts" ?

You`re right , there`s a separate section for both "religious nuts" and "evolutionist nuts" .

Something else I`ve noticed in these forums is that the "religious nuts" will always try to post reasons for their beliefs , while the "evolutionist nuts" will whine to Yahoo and get the posts deleted . Why is that ?

Ditto, Hippie Power.

It was Copernicus. In 1519, he was trying to re-introduce a heliocentric model of the solarsystem, and was suppressed by religious zealots who feared his revelations would somehow diminish their power and respect among their believers. His extensive and prodigious works weren't published until he was on his deathbed, 24 years later, in1543.

Stick with science. Science is a method with no moral judgement. Religion is judgemental ands leads to terrible wars.

I have no idea.
having run into many of them, I also find it
most distressing to see the narrow minded
approach they take to their own lack of knowledge
about the Universe. They have all been brain
washed somewhere along the line and find it
absolutely impossible to conceive of something
larger than the dirt they stand upon.

They must confuse Astrology with Astronomy.

Maybe they believe more in science than in religion...they're trying to understand with finite comprehension the infinity of Space.

Because religious nuts are easily confused, maybe?
