Has any one been to the Adelphi Theatre on the Strand in London??
Is it really big??
If i got tickets for a show seated in Row T in the Stalls, would i get a good view or not.
Is the Upper Circle really high up, so i wont be able to see any thing??

If any one has been i would be pleased to hear your views on the theatre and where the best seats are.

Thanks!

Adelphi Seating Plan

The Adelphi is quite a large theatre but you should have no problem seeing from T. There aren't any pillars to block your view and the circle doesn't overhang too badly.

All theatres follow roughly the same layout - stalls are floor level, dress circle is the first balcony, and upper circle would be the 2nd balcony. Row T, expect to be about 60ft from the stage. You can always see the stage from wherever you're seated (unless tickets specifically state "restricted view" - they tend to be cheaper and there's usually a pillar in the way, but it won't block your whole view). A theatre floor is always sloped so seats further back are higher than those at the front, and seats are staggered so that you look between the shoulders of the two people in front of you.

Upper circle is reasonably high, but not so high that you can't see anything - but you're better off sitting nearer the front of a balcony than the back. again, all balconies have sloped seating so the people in front shouldn't block your view.

I'm assuming you're getting tickets for Joseph - be aware that there'll be a lot of colours and visuals, so there'll be lots to watch. It's also not unusual for well known musicals for all the audience to be standing up for the finale and singing along! When I saw Mamma Mia a few years back we were midway back in the upper circle and had to stand up as the front 10 rows were on their feet, so we couldn't see through them!

The perk to sitting higher up in the theatre is you'll see more of the back of the stage when the whole company are on stage - if you're sat at floor level, you might not see so much of what is going on behind the action at the front of the stage. You'll see more of the top of their head from high up, but if you're sat in the front row of the stalls, you'll see a lot of the underside of actors chins! All actors are trained to perform to a whole audience (including those at the top), so they always seem to be looking and speaking out and upwards to the top of the theatre.

Enjoy your night wherever you sit!
