my birth certificate is in my birth name i have never been known as this.i only have a copy of my birth certificate i have no bills in my name to my address all in partners name i need a ID card so i can apply for a racing licence as i am working with greyhounds.my doctors,hospital,bank are in the name i have always been known as,HELP

So, do you want a racing licence in the name you are always known by? You must have bank statements, etc in that name and since, legally, you can be known by any name you choose (as long as its not for financial gain), they should accept these documents.
You don't need a deed poll to change your name - its your right to do it informally.

How did you manage to get a bank account? Usually you need to use your birth certificate and it would be opened in that name. Why dont you apply for the ID card in your birth name, does it matter?

Hi,If I was you use the name you are known by.You can use bank statements & have you got a card from your doctors with your NHS number on it.You can also get your name changed by deed poll.Good Luck

You may well have to mention your previous name from time to time.
You can use any name you wish as long as the intention is not fraudulent
