ccgriffin1972 - you make a good point, foriegn oil is not a ecconomy breaker by any means, i certainly do not want anyone to think that was my intention, just that in general feul costs are rising, every bitches "gas prices are outrageous" then they go and get a F350 truck... i just dont get that in and of itself.

Performance and comfort. We're a bunch of spoiled brats when it comes to our wheels and the car makers do all in their power to keep us that way.

Cars that get better gas mileage are selling a lot better now that gas has gone way up. The problem with cars that are more fuel-efficient is they're smaller and have less power. People with families prefer SUVs because there's plenty of room for Dad, Mom, the kids, and all their stuff. Many people prefer other vehicles with more powerful engines because they want something that has passing power on the freeway, and the little fuel-efficient cars don't have it. You also have the pose factor. Most Americans are more concerned with status and "keeping up with the Joneses" than they are with reducing dependence on foreign oil. Well, once gas gets up to $5.00 a gallon maybe the average American consumer will wake up and smell the hybrid...

This makes me sick, you can't blame our cars on the economy.

Well, generally cars that get high mileage are about as ugly as a box of rocks... the other thing that keeps us from buying them is that, usually, they cost like a box of diamonds...
And, a poor, man like myself, can't afford one.
