When I was a kid, I dutifully learned from the American media that the Palestinians were terrorists and that the Irsaelis were beseiged victims.
One day, while passing this on to my sons as part of homeschooling, our oldest said - WHY do the Palestinians do this? I said, "Let's find out."
My 14 yo homeschooled son made a few movies to share what he learned. The one above is his latest. This was his first, about Palestine since the Intifada
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWBsB_ijNlc
which for an old lady like me must be watched on full screen mode to read the text.
Here's my favorite that he's made asking questions about Palestine:

So, did you know these things? Do they square with what you were always taught? If not, why not? If yes, where did you get your education?

An answerer commented that Palestine was partitioned and the Palestinians won't accept these borders.
What process was used to draw up these borders? Did the Palestinians agree to these borders? How generous of them - what other country has agreed to cut their country in half and give it to immigrants?

WWII is relevant, and the horror of it must not be overlooked. The killers of the Jews of Eastern Europe during the Holocaust were the Lithuanians, Poles, Ukrainians themselves. The Nazis unleashed a horrific depravity.
Why was Palestine chosen to pay the price for that?
I can only imagine my fellow Americans reacting to the United Nations deciding that those Wyandottes who traveled from Canada/Michigan to Ohio, and then were forcibly resettled in their own 'trail of tears' to Oklahoma, and who, life being awful there, dispersed throughout America and Cananda, should be given a state that spans Quebec and some Great Lakes states.
Chosen people. Please. Who told them that? The guy who jotted those ideas down.

Brian and mother, boy do you ever have this wrong. I'd like to know where you got your information from. Israel is a Zionist State and you are gravely mistaken if you think Jews and Zionist are the same.

thank you for this question...... I am very well aware of what's going on in Palestine. The whole world needs to know that the USA is funding the Zionist terrorist with 4 billion per year with the tax $'s of hard working Americans. It's time we see the Israeli government for who they really are.
For 2,000 years there was no such conflict.
The land of Palestine was inhabited by Palestinian Arabs. In 1850 these consisted of approximately 400,000 Muslims, 75,000 Christians, and 25,000 Jews. For centuries these groups had lived in harmony: 80 percent Muslim, 15 percent Christian, 5 percent Jewish.

Israel torturing Palestinian child prisoners 4/13/2007
The Palestinians’ suffering at the hands of the Israelis is worse than in any other part of the world. Many of the Palestinian detainees are children, who are subjected to physical and psychological torture by Israeli interrogators and prison guards.
former prime minister Golda Meir once said, in fact: "There is no such thing as a Palestinian."

“I don’t mind if after the job is done you put me in front of a Nuremberg Trial and then jail me for life. Hang me if you want, as war criminal. What you don’t understand is that the dirty work of Zionism is not finished yet, far from it.” – Ariel Sharon
“I vow that if I was an Israeli civilian and I met a Palestinian, I would burn him, and I would make him suffer before killing him.” – Areil Sharon Prime Minister of Israel
“We must use terror, assignation, intimidation, land confiscation, and the cutting of all social services to rid “Israel” of its Arab population.” – Israel Koenig
“We have to kill all the Palestinians unless they are resigned to live here as slaves.”
Chairman Heilbrum
“Even today I am willing to volunteer to do the dirty work for Israel, to kill as many Arabs as necessary, to deport them, to expel and burn them….” – Ariel Sharon Prime Minister of Israel

“I didn’t know that in order to protect a few people, farmland had to be confiscated and crops had to be destroyed; I didn’t know that in order to provide security for a few people, hundreds had to be kept waiting at checkpoints and roadblocks before being allowed to return home exhausted, that is if they are not killed.” Portuguese Nobel Laureate Jose Saramago, March 28, 2002, during a visit to the West Bank.
It is more than the wide wild west here, it is actually very much like pre-war Germany when the Third Reich effectively encouraged Germans to have a free season on Jews, on their lives, homes and businesses.
Around the same time, the Israeli occupation army rounded more than 51 Palestinians (the daily quota is 15-20), sending them to the notorious concentration camp in the Negev desert where they are interned in harsh conditions for months or years, either on concocted charges or without charge or trial.
There are more than 11000 Palestinians languishing in these detention camps. Israel calls them “terrorists or extremists.” However, the truth of the matter is that these people are doctors, teachers, university professors, nurses, students, lawmakers, government clerks, businesspeople and ordinary people whose only crime is their often peaceful opposition to the Nazi-like Israeli occupation of their country.

Jewish rabbi calls for extermination of all Palestinian males Sep 24, 2006
Yousef Falay, a Jewish rabbi living in the West Bank has called on the Israeli government to use their troops to kill all Palestinian males more than 13 years old in a bid to end Palestinian presence on this earth. He also wrote an article in a Zionist magazine under the title "Ways of War", in which he called for the killing of all Palestinian males refusing to flee their country, describing his idea as the practical way to ensure the non-existence of the Palestinian race.

The Jews condem the Zionist about the occupation and oppression of Palestine, the murders committed by the IDF.
This war is about Zionism. There were no problems for 2000 years as Jews, Muslims, and Christians lived in harmony until the European Jews arrived
When will people wake up? Christians believe Jews are God's chosen people. The State of "Israel" does not speak in the name of Jews, they have stolen the name "Israel" from the Jewish people. Jews are commanded to be loyal citizens in every country in which they reside. The Zionist are the ones who are committing genocide against the palestinians and in fact the Jews are not even treated well by the Zionist. A Jew and A Zionist are not the same.

What is happening? Innocent children are being killed and at the same time being labeled terrorists. They are struggling to survive while the Israeli Occupying Forces systematically attempt to ethnically cleanse the entire region. The massive walls form outdoor prisons. If they lift a finger in response they are branded "terrorists" and the world seems to nod in agreement. What is happening in Palestine is not the work of "God's chosen people", but rather the Israelis are acting more like people who follow an entity much different and from a much hotter climate. Your son's insight is a result of being home schooled by an intelligent woman, yourself, and not being brainwashed like the rest of this country. You should be very proud of him. Pray for peace in Palestine.

The reason the Palestinians lost that land was that backed the wrong horse in WW 2. They should have backed the allies instead. They were wrong and they have paid the price. Another reason is that it originally belonged to the Jewish people in the first place. Let's be real about it, the Palestinians are terrorists that hate the Israelis because they are Jewish. Hardcore Islam has always been intolerant and always will be intolerant until a nation with enough power to put them in their place and let them know that their intolerance of others to merely exist will be eradicated or they will be.

No country called Palestine? Now, that's interesting, considering WWI was about carving up the empires of europe and the middle east. There was no Poland much of the time either, but we in the USA didn't mind saying Russia should not occupy them. There was, heck, no Germany, but we all know what we mean.
Palestine was a place, regardless of what western powers or ottoman empire leaders ruled it. Palestine was a place where Palestinians lived. Jewish, Muslim, and Christian Palestinians.
The zionist settlers started bombing targets in the region, to force England to give them Palestine. Back and forth the UN and England went, changing the borders. Shockingly, lots of Palestine went to other nations in addition to Israel.
Why are Palestinians in refugee camps? Why are their homes being bulldozed? Why did Sharon committ mass murder in one of the camps and try to blame it on the UN?
Why is Abramoff raising money from Indian tribes to buy sniper rifles with night scopes for Israeli settlers, illegally in palestinian territory, to kill palestinians?

Actually, the Muslim terrorists in Gaza seem very effective at eliminating one another. In the last 24 hours Arabs have murdered over 50 other Arabs in Gaza.
Their newest tactic is to tie up a fellow Muslim and throw him off a skyscraper.
Perhaps they are doing the work for the West.
The whole "Palestinian People" is made up, just to try to eliminate Israel. The Land of Israel is the biblical home of the Jewish People, and the Jewish People have maintained a presence there continuously.
If you were naive enough to believe what you hear on the news and media, you would think there is an entity called a "Palestinian people," who lived in a "country/state/area" called Palestine since Canaanite/Biblical/Muslim times. You would almost believe that the Israelis occupied "Palestine" in 1967. And you might even think that the Palestinians want the occupiers out of their land. And of course, you might feel, they are entitled to do whatever it takes to get their land back. No? No. Not at all, Here are the facts.
Who are the Palestinians? Palestinians are Arabs. They have no historical, national or cultural identity distinct from other Arabs of the region. Most of them came into Palestine in search of economic opportunities after World War I when the British and the Jews began to build up a land that was moribund.
What is Palestine? When the Romans conquered Judea, they renamed it Palestine. Since then, no occupying power ever made it an independent state or established a capital in Jerusalem. Under the Ottoman Empire, it was part of the province of Syria.
After World War I, the area was mandated to Britain to establish a Jewish national home. Instead, in 1922, Britain split off 75% of Palestine to establish the Emirate of Transjordan, as a throne for the Arabian Hashemite family.
The UN decided to split the remaining 25% of Palestine between Jews and Arabs. In 1948, five Arab armies attacked the newborn State of Israel. Transjordan annexed the area intended for an Arab state, and renamed itself the Kingdom of Jordan, calling the annexed area the West Bank. Egypt took over Gaza. No Arab suggested making the West Bank and/or Gaza into yet another Arab state until 1967, when Israel was again attacked by the Arabs and took these areas.

Look the UN created both Palestine and Israel. The issue is Israel want to keep occupying land that was never part of Israel and there is not one single country is willing to recognize that occupied land is part of Israel. Is it anti-Semitic or anti-Israeli to say Palestine has the right to exist too.A viable Palestine means a viable Israel and no viable Palestine means no viable Israel and wars go on between the two people.
Occupying other people by force is losing policy in the past and now and has no future. No one could NOT change his mind unless he has no mind.

There is no Palestine!!!! And that is, what it is ALL about. If this issue could be solved, we would not have to fight terrorism in countries overseas.
The issue is at the root of everything going on in the world today! But we in the USA will never realize that fact!!!!!!

and oh dear to 'mother', who does not realise that some Palestinians Are Christians, nor that some Palestinians advocate a secular political structure; and also that Palestinians are not in the position to carry out ethnic cleansing as she suggests, the notion of which is arrantly corrupt.
