I don't really know what you are looking for. But the Michigan Humane Society is a non profit organization to help pets. I don't know if the Humane Society is nation wide.

The United Way is an excellent organization. The money they recieve throughout the community goes back into the community for things like, helping kids, basic needs, etc.
