how to setting my vga for better fps?

how i can maximize my fps by setting with a software?
my vga is ati radeon 9250

Lower the screen resolution to 800x600, and the colors to 16 bit (if the game will allow it). Set the graphic settings to allow the application to select in the windows display settings. Then set the in-game graphics to medium or low.

Lots and lots of FPS!.

Do as waltzme says. If you are still not satisfied w/ gaming performance of your PC, upgrade your slow graphics card.
