You sir, are a man after my own heart.
Buy a trap then try all of the above at your own leisure.
Put the hose on it in the meantime.
ps, Andy C should be president

By having freshly dug flower beds you are in affect providing the cat with a litter tray.
You could put down a course mulch such as course gravel or large wood chip. You could then mix in a sprinkling of something like cayenne pepper or chilli powder. Cats don't like the smell.
Alternatively, as a neutered cats roaming area is approximately one house either side of yours, back and front as well, and an un-neutered cat's is further, you could always move to another country.
Mind you, the cats there will still find you!!!!!
Another way to look at it. Which would you prefer done to you for digging in the cats territory in the first place?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Killing it would be wrong try putting citrus fruit peel on your flower beds not only will it help them grow because it would turn to compost but felines hate citrus smells so it will steer well clear of them.

Moth balls are a cheap and easy solution. Don't get the flakes because they dissolve too quickly.
I even use them for a deer repellent!

Just put pepper down, or put a bit of pepper/chilli in some meat, it will stop coming back after that.
