This is what typically happens when a ram stick is bad (the Mosel) or is incompatible. I side with the incompatible.

Take out the Mosel, write down the part number of the Kingston, and search over at pricewatch.com or newegg.com and get that same Kingston 256mb ram.

Be sure PC is unplugged. Remove the newly installed RAM module. Clean the slot with a small paint brush. It may have accumulated dust while it was empty, preventing contact on some of the 184 pins. Reseat the new RAM module 3X then insure it is properly plugged in so you could lock the end clips. Power on your PC. BIOS should detect 512Mb RAM properly.

You should check to see if you need matching RAM. They both have the same numbers, but they are different manufacturers. Go to your PC manufacturer & check. They probably have a section where you can buy memory from them. Also, when you restart your PC it recognizes the new card. I would think that you'd be given the choice of entering BIOS, & here you will have to know what you're doing, or just starting your PC. I would just start the PC & if it works you won"t have to fool with BIOS.

try to re-seat the memory cards... it might not be in all the way. or it is a bad stick.
