you need to look for the greatest common factor to factorize 4x + 2.
Greatest common factor is a number by which you can divide both the terms.
You can see that both 4x and 2 can be divided by 2. you can factor out 2 from 4x + 2..
To factor out 4x + 2..... the steps are
Step 1:write the gcf in front of a open brackets. ' 2 ' is the gcf
so .. 2( )
Step 2: To fill the paranthesis by dividing each term by 2 like
2(4x/2 + 2/2)
Step 3: after simplifying you will get
2(2x + 1)
So factorizing 4x + 2 you will get 2(2x + 1)
hope this helps.

you first find a common factor in your expression. In this case its 2 ,therefore in a factorised form it becomes :
4x+2 = 2(2x+1)

2(2x+1) is the answer as you time the 2 things in the bracket by the one to the left so 2 times 2x is 4 x and 2 time 1 is 2 so you get 4x plus 2 so that is the answer or it could be 4(x+1/2) as that may be more likeley as then it is the factor for x not 2 try using 4(x+0.5) as your answer but it depends who is marking it to wther they prefer which method put them both if you are allowed the marker will understand but if you cant, put 4(x+0.5) as it is the most correct but both shouls work and you can use 1/2 or 0.5 they are both a half.
