It still is, why we can vote, but most Americans don't vote and there the biggest complainers. When you don't vote you get what you deserve.

Of course it is. Why do you think so many people want to come here, whether legally or otherwise? If you still need convincing, try going to North Korea, or Mexico, or Venezuela, or Russia, or any of several countries in Africa or Asia or the Middle East, and make the same comment about their leaders or their social systems. Here in the US, you may get an argument. There, you may land in jail. Can you say the same for your own country?
America isn't perfect by a long shot. There's plenty of things that I think should be changed. But the opportunity and the mechanisms to make those changes are firmly entrenched in the US government and way of life, and they aren't going anywhere.

People need to wake up...the land, America, the USA, our government, doesn't owe you anything, it doesn't promise you anything... And it is really sad to people say that the land is full of broken promises because those are the people counting on a government check every month because they do not have the drive or determination to become something more. Honestly, what did YOU do to deserve something from the government...not use protection, become a heroin addict, be lazy, drop out of school, stand up and shout you hate the president and everything he stands for, in that case, then you hate the USA...

I don't think President Bush is the issue here. Presidents don't arise like phoenixes from their ashes. They have to have a power bloc behind them. But I will answer your question as stated--Is America still a land of promise?
I think a T-shirt logo I once saw says it best:
America: Government of the people
by the people
on the people.
There's far too much on the people these days, and the promise is waning fast.

I believe that America is still the land of promise. We still have free enterprise and many social freedoms that others don't. President Bush doesn't have anything to do with America being the land of promise. Our forefathers did.

Why do people insist this is All President Bush's doing? there is more to blame than one man....
But then He won't be the first to be morally crucified...Nor will he be the last and if anyone else thinks i'm wrong wait till the next President hits office..This has become an obsession.....But if you blame one all should carry it too...Dems and Repubs alike....

Take a little trip around the globe my friend and I'm sure you would not have to ask this question.
We here in America are a lucky lot indeed.

Of course it's still a land of promise. They promise this and they promise that, but do they keep there promise? That should be the question.
