Habit like drinking, smoking, womenising, gambling etc can be controlled or stopped by the person himself, no outside help is of any use, The will power to get rid of such habit only make one stop doing so & taking any physiological help is only like giving some sort of self satisfaction to oneself that it will help in stopping such habit nothing more. I can say so because I myself used to be a heavy drinker myself till last August but I stopped it completely on my own will power, without any help of any medical or physiological assistance. So only thing here you can do is to make him realize the harms of these & if he himself realize these he will stop these bad habits, this will bring peace in your marital life.

he "misbehaves"? what kind of language is that to use about your spouse? Have you fallen into acting like his mother as well as your kids' mother? If you are sick of his drinking and smoking, tell him. Rationally, calmly, with reasons and evidence, not just on a rant. If he ignores how you feel, then you need to deal with that. However, it would be a good idea to have a chat with a marriage guidance professional too, to have a look at the power structure within your relationship.

If you love him, be frank and tell him why you don't appreciate his habits. Convince him to quit for health reason for rest of the family members. Second hand smoke is more dangerous to the health of inhalers. Why should you and your kids have to go through it. If he loves you, he will listen and try to quit. If not, you know how much he cares about you and your kids. If you fail to correct his bad habits, you have to give him an ultimatum and stick to it. It may be hard to divorce but some times that is the only choice left.

Have a talk with him at a quiet moment (ie not in the middle of a fight) and tell him the impression he is making will most likely stick with the kids and possibly scar them, etc. Of course, you can always ask him to leave !!! Girl, dont put up with this kind of thing.....your acceptance of it makes him think its ok.

You tried to undetstand him when he is in a good mood that means not in a drinking condition. Try to under stand him about the misbehaviour of him when he is drinking in the front of your kids

Well if you dont want ur kids growing up thinking thats okay you have to ask him to stop and if he doesnt leave and hopefully that will put him in a spin enough to give it up and get help otherwise he doesnt love you enough to look after himself.

If you had it enough and can't stand him, divorce him. Or else, try talking some sense. The extreme will be kicking him out of the house, buy a new lock.
