Because they want real, genuine men and not silly boys, fako's and phonies who are instantly recognized and a dime per dozen.

As a guy, I feel the need to chip in and give an opinion. I don't think women should be worried about pickup-artists. The vast majority of guys who study this stuff are conventionally unattractive and mistakenly believe the "inner beauty over outer beauty" myth. The guys that sell this stuff are sociopathic con artists preying on the ugly man's desperation. The dirty little secret of the PUA community is that most of the "students" lack the social intuition necessary to understand that there is a very real difference between INTEREST and ATTRACTION. Interest is based on personality. Attraction needs looks. Without attraction, a man will never be anything more than a friend. The "gurus" in the community intentionally obscure this fact and give the false impression that interest = attraction. Ever notice that the only people in the community that do get women are the attractive ones? Learning pickup does not help a man with sub par looks -- the person that needs it the most. He must fix his looks. Then and only then will he begin to see any results at all.

I don't think they're the same thing. a guy who flirts with his girl is great; a pick up artist just seems to be a narcissistic selfish creep that just goes around trying to get into as many girls' pants as possible, regardless of whether or not he actually LIKES them.

Flirting is play - a sort of communication. Girls practice on boys finding out how attractive they are - same with boys. Pick-up artists sound older - like 30-ish blokes chatting up teenagers.

Not only does it imply that all women subscribe to the same rules of attraction, but it's an "art" that entails seducing as many women as possible. It's misogynistic in nature because it pretty much implies that women are to be picked up and disposed of. Women aren't a homogenous entity - they as a population are comprised of an infinite myriad of identities, cultures, ideas, belief systems, and other variables that certainly play into the way they fall for individuals.
Why not spend all the time, money, and effort you'd waste on buying this "technique" and instead, spend it on women of substance who genuinely gain your attention by other means than simply physical appearance? It seems like a huge waste, really. Besides, "players" are everywhere - it is nothing new, and it's really not cute. To women of substance and intelligence, you will only seem like another little boy who's not their time or energy.

girls like to have the illusion that the guy only wants her. A "pick-up-artist" goes after many girls. That makes her not so special. That is my opinion.

When I see a pick up artist at work, all I can think of is how many places his d**k has been and what diseases he has encountered along the way. And make no mistake - that is NOT a turn-on for me.

It depends on how the guy goes about flirting. Some are so smooth about it that you know exactly what their intentions are. Others are more romantic and fallible, which is adorable.

Because it's so pathetic... you can't get girls off looks or personality alone, so you need to actually spend your MONEY and your TIME learning how to pick up women? That's so lame and cheezy.

flirting, poetry and flowers are nice
doing it to every girl you fancy with the intention of gaining entry to her pants is not so nice
pick up artists are to girls what sluts are to girls
