YES, because the PC was never designed to run and run without doing or accomplishing anything. Shutting down your PC at night would also reduce your contribution to greenhouse gases that leads to global warming.

It's not necessary, if your computer has adequate cooling (that is, your PC runs at normal temperatures). You can keep your PC running (that is, without a shutdown or restart) on days at a stretch. You would need to restart or shut it down after an extremely long run, just to give the PC and the OS a breather, though.

I usually stay my computer in Hibernate mode. It isn't overheating and save my apps, so i needn't to start them every time i turn on my pc.
