how do i erase every single trace of my internet visits. ie cookies etc?? and internet history?

i need expert help here.

For a beginner using CCleaner is probably easiest.

Check to make sure secure deletion is on, for more security.

You can use the build in browser features of course but if you are using internet explorer, it does not clear the index.dat files which list the urls you have visited.

There are six places where you computer stores information on your online history. So, if you want to delete every single trace its going to take a while. The site below will show you how to do it manually. However this info can still be recovered using Windows restore and recovery.

You have to perform a "secure delete" to remove information permanently. This is the only real way to erase information off of magnetic media. This works by encrypting the data and deleting it many times over until its nothing more than unreadable code. Shredding is another technique but not nearly as effective. Also. The US Dept of Defense endorse "secure delete" as the only way to permanently remove data. Check out this link.

Click on TOOLS, then Internet Options then click, Delete, then Click Delete All ---- this is in Internt Explorer 7

Oh, you mean from the Feds, re-install Windows after using Eraser from sourceforge. Google for it.
