I started swimming at the age of 4, and haven't stopped since. It was a good choice to enrol her in swimming lessons! It really pays off.

Good for you...I never learned how to swim..my mothe rput me in a class and I was a big girl at 6 and they ended up putting me in the wrong class and I was pushed in right away. I got out and ran to my om crying and told her "They D**N near drowned me"I was always reminded of that. But I regrete not learning and have a fear of water now. So I think it is great you are doing this.

I could actually swim before I could walk (my mother took me to a program called water-babies and we literally learned to swim before we could walk)

For my whole life I have loved swimming and I feel totally comfortable in the water.

When you think about it, we start our lives in a liquid medium (inside our mothers) and this is normal, we LEARN our fear of water as we get older and we learn this fear from others who can't swim.

Swimming is an important skill both for safety, health and enjoyment. I hope your daughter can get the lifelong benefits from swimming that I have.

I took swimming lessons, but it didn't help. It seems I just started learning on my own. Swimming is really great excercise.

Good for you! Kids should learn to swim.

Yes. I love it, but Mom never could swim. It made her sad since we lived so close to rivers and lakes.

yes, I had to learn early because I have 7 brothers, and when I was little, they would throw me in the water and tell me to start paddling or I would sink. not the best way to learn, but it worked for me because I had no choice.
