Many of the movie stars seem to love them! Most people just want surface feelings, and as long as they feel genuine, it doesn't have to be real to be satisfying. Also remember that some people may not have much of a choice, there are people who are constantly rejected for friendship by the social groups. For them, superficial relationships might be their only choice for companionship. Many times it is society's fault, and our heart gives us little choice. Like a rock star that is constantly on the road, it's hard to establish permanent meaningful relationships, and phony friends might their only real choice.

Physically, yes. in a superficial relationship one could probably not ask for anything more than the physical, shallow things.
If deeper emotions gets mixed up with this"superficial" relationship one's bound to get hurt because he'd be expecting more from the relationship where the other MAY not be prepared to give... Unless of course, the relationship would start superficially then grow deeper. then, its another story.

What is superficial to one person is deep and meaningful to another. One's needs and wants are unique and each person's can find fulfillment in someone who appears to the rest of the world as superficial. This example may be funny but I can't help thinking of how I love my dog and will weep inconsolably if something happened to her--of course, you can't have a deep relationship with a dog but you can't deny how fulfilling it is to have a dog who loves you unconditionally.

To fulfill me, I would want a relationship with someone like me, both in terms of looks and personality.
Maybe I am a bit superficial or immature, but to me looks have some importance.
I wouldn't want someone of unusual beauty, but if I don't feel attracted to a man, I can't be bothered for anything else.
I'm not much into social life.
I would just like someone to share my life with...

Under certain circumstances, it can for a while providing you are honest with yourself and the other person and you realize it is not going anywhere longterm.
For example, after a dreadful and difficult marriage in which you were abused in some way, a superficial relationship can be quite healing.

Relationships are like hunger, we handle them like meaningful meals with all of the trappings, while at times sometimes some cotton candy or a chocolate bar is all that is craved.
