The answer is not in a primer, it's in the moisturiser and foundation. Try an oil absorbing moisturiser like Estee Lauder's Clear Difference oil control hydrator (love it!) and their Equalizer Smart Makeup- it absorbs oil where you need it, doesn't where you don't. They also have Double Wear powder makeup- it's oil absorbing too. There are other brands that have this- remember you get what you pay for.

I love MAC. It's great and it works for me. I have really oily skin which I had to blot every 2 hours. Recently, I discovered the face primer. The primer controls the oil and helps smooth out the make up. It totally changed my life! My skin is no longer oily and I only have to blot once/twice a day.

What I do now is put on my moisturiser, then the face primer called Prep+Prime Skin, then Studio Fix Select SPF15 liquid foundation, concealer and finish off with the MAC lightful powder. It totally keeps the oil at bay plus covers the millions of blemishes on my face :P

Seeing a dermatologist alone, does not work cos I'm doing that as well. Get the MAC primer, it's super cool

You should always uses a moisturiser because it protects the skin. Boots and Ponds make very good antishine moisturisers at affordable prices. Many foundations have an oily base to make them easier to apply and feel softer, but it is possible to find some without. Clinique, Dior and Chanel are good on combination skins. Also apply your base with a damp sponge, this allows for even coverage and helps set the makeup.
