My Nephew is 1 year old now, and I think about how to teach him about Allah
coz Muslim doesn't have God's symbols like other religion.
It will be more difficult to explain about God to kids
When should we start to teach him about it?

I remember when my sis n bro were born, my parents started almost immediatly.

When putting them to sleep, we would recite some dua' or simply just There is no God save Allah and Mohammad is His final prophet (in the arabic version of course!) as a lulluby. When a little old we might sometimes point to the sky and say, Allah is high up there. When a little old, and they start asking questions, such as from where did the food come? we will say that Allah send it down. Or things such as lying is a work of Satan and Allah gets angry. Tell him that when something goes wrong, he should pray to Allah or that if he wants something, He should pray to Him. Pray urself infront of him. This will boost his confidence in Allah. Little things such as these counts. Then of course, there must be parents or other elders praying five times a day and reciting the Quran. Make sure u recite LOUDLY. Little things like these gradually get them used to the concept.

What a nice question!!
It is important for him to see Islam around him: people praying, reading Kuran, doing dhikr.

Small children love music so use this! Play islamic music and beautiful Kuran recitations as much as possible. Sing islamic children´s songs. THere are some really nice ones. Clap to the rhythms, sing them lots. Even if he doesn´t sing along, it is definately going into that brain! And it´s fun!!

Once he can understand stories, tell him some stories about the prophets - of course he won´t remember everything, but it will awaken his interest in the prophets. Later he will appreciate how they had to struggle through difficult times, but that it was all worth it. I can´t tell you HOW OFTEN I "had" to tell my children the story of Nuh and the Ark....!!!!!!

Recite Kuran daily, and have him sit beside you with his own Kuran to do it "with you". I saw a mother do this with her daughter, and when she was 3 she already could recite 5 suras (not only short ones!!!).

Get a small prayer mat (or cut one and sew it smaller), and have him pray beside you.

TV-time? Put on some ADAM´S WORLD videos - the Islamic "Muppets" (check out the link below).

Colouring? Colour pics of mosques, etc. There are colouring books like this available, with pics if kids praying, all sorts of stuff.

We make a deal about decorating for the Eids. We do crafts to make most of them ourselves. Even a small child knows it is a special time when the house is decorated nicely. It works.

As a last thought, decorate his bedroom with appropriate deco/pictures. Keep out the Mickey Mouse & Co. There are lots of nice things you can use. I even found some pretty caligraphy in lots of colours (from a calendar) and hung them up in the kids rooms. Also, nice pics of Kaaba/Medina, etc. Dare to be different!!

Good luck!!

parents are the first teacher to the child.

How did you know about Allah? Definitely it is from your parents. that way you explain the GOD (It is only one and No one is equal to HIM - ALLAH)
Read Qu-ran you will get the answer.
Lot of Muslim stories and Hadith books are available in the maket. Kids are very interested to listen stories. through stories you can teach the kid who is Allah and what is Muslim and his duties.
this is the right age to teach reliogious lessons by parents. after 2 or 3 years admit the child in nearby Madarasa where Ustads will take care of the child on religious matters.

Will you shouldn't worry at that early age.
As long as he is raised in a Muslim house, watching people praying and reading Quran, that is a good start at this time.
at the age of 2, maybe you should encourage him to imitate your prayer.
at age of 3, start mentioning that doing so & so will get you closer to Allah. "if you read quran, Allah will love you", "if you pray more, Allah will love you more" etc.
at age 4, this is when they would start questioning about where is Allah, and you should explain to him that he is always around, watching every step and move, but no one could ever see him; because he wants to know who loves him (by praying etc) and who doesn't.
My girl is 4 years now, and its working fine with me so far!

Children learn the acts from their elders. If they find them doing prayers they too will learn. No need to worry about your nephew, he is just 1 year old. Inshallah, while growing he will learn.

v. important question...
It i better to learn him by learn him how to answer the following questions:

1- Who is your God..? (Man Rabok...?)
My God is Allah...Rabee Allah
2- What is your religion...? (Ma Denok..?)
My religion is Islam...Deenee Al-Islam
3- Who is your Prophet...? (Man Nabeok..?
My Prophet is Mohammed....Nabe'e Mohammed Sala Allaho Alyehe Wa Salam...

In Addition of that try to make him very confident in the God existence and show him the Sun, Moon, Sky, Tree....etc. and tell him those are all a beautiful creators of Allah...

This is very important for kids to learn about specially in his first years to guard his Faith from deviation.

Learn him the Adhkar...before and after eating..before sleeping...after waking up...before and after going to bath.....etc.

Learn him the Arabic Alphabet...

Try to learn him gradually and do not make any stress on him...and remember that the best way to learn is by a good example..
