No. We're not to put Him to the test, nor set ourselves up for conflict. They'll happen without us seeking them out.

First off, what you are describing is an interpretation. Some might argue that prayer and meditation could bring you closer to God. I do not think you need to put yourself in harm's way to get closer to God. Also, how do you know that God wants to test you? Maybe God thinks you are a great person already. If God is going to test you then God will decide the details of the obstacles and challenges.

What you are talking about is putting God to the test and you do not do that. Jesus said to satan in the desert when Jesus was fasting for 40 days said "it is written do not put hte Lord Your God to the test" when the devil asked Jesus to jump of the cliff, and God will comand his angels comcerning you and you will not hit your foot against a stone. The devil is a lier. And if situations arise that are beyond your control and you accidentally get your self into trouble yes call on God and he will deliver you in times of trouble. But do not put God to the test becasue you may life to regret it, or you may not live at all. Do not be foolish.

Should you take perilous risks and behave with disregard for your own life.
No. God will provide you with enough tests without you going in and adding more to it. Remember that the Bible says to not test God.
Does self-torture bring you closer to God?
No. We must love ourselves in order to love each other and God.
In the end just ask yourself when doing something, who you are doing it for? The love of God and others? Or for yourself?

no , no , and no. You are to take care of the body that the Lord gave you , to do otherwise is disrespectful . He will decide when and if to test you . The student doesn't make up their own tests . What would be the lesson in self torture ?How could harming one of His creations bring you closer to Him ? If you want to be closer to God read the NIV Bible .

The whole life of this world is a test. God is testing each soul accordingly with their given various means. We are not to long for falling in to trials. But if we get into, Just be patient & turn to God and believe that was for our own good.

Exodus 20:20 Moses stated to the folk, "don't be afraid. God has come to attempt you, so as that the terror of God would be with you to maintain you from sinning." Deuteronomy 13:3 you may no longer hear to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is sorting out you in looking out whether you like him with all your heart and with all your soul. a million Chronicles 29:17 i understand, my God, which you attempt the guts and are happy with integrity. in basic terms about all those issues have I given willingly and with trustworthy reason. And now I relatively have seen with excitement how willingly your people who're here have given to you.

The only test god has for you is to prove his existence. Failing that come to the realization that god is made up by man and man is fall of you know what.

This is actually a good arguement for not teaching children God, so they can find Him on their own. The problem is most won't, plus we do not need to go out of our way to sin for that is our nature.

No. You say it right off in your first sentence. God sends tests. He doesn't need your help in creating tests, he's God. You'll have plenty of opportunity to show what you're made of without exposing yourself to uneccisary risks.

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by Satan, the devil told Jesus to throw himself down from the pinnacle of the temple, because angels would come and save him. Jesus replied, "You shall not put God to the test."
