My dog has worms, which he got from another dog which died a few days ago. We already brought him to the vet. But when we gave him his medicine, he started to act drunk (-> woobly back legs, cant walk straight) and spittle A LOT (major deposit of saliva). The doctor didn't say anything about side effects of the medicine and would be too expensive to bring him back. But when it is the only choice... I'm asking if I can do something else...

It sure sounds like a reaction to the medication. I would certainly call the vet to ask what to do.

If you can find your bill, it will tell what the wormer was. Then you could call this free poison control.
K-State's College of Veterinary Medicine has a free, 24-hour animal poison control hotline at 785-532-5679 that puts worried pet owners and other veterinarians in touch with three K-State veterinary toxicologists.
You could also do an online search for that medication name and side effects.

Is he allergic to it? Why don't you save yourself a ton of money and get some wormer from a farm supply store or online instead of the vet? He might be allergic to the one they gave him. Ivermectin has that affect on some dogs.

hmm....
my dog does that too but first lemme tell u calling the vet is the best idea, i should say it thats why i m sayin....otherwise heres a solution that always works[for our superdog atleast;)]
we give him very thin lassi [thats what we call it, its curd shaked with 3 times the volume of water and a little salt] the dog will surely refuse to drink but leave it with him, give it to him 3-4 times in a gap of 1 hour and dont give more than a glass at one time, in fact half a glass is fine cuz he ll waste for sure....if he 's taking it nicely and you dont have to force him, he should be fine in a day or two] dont force him to eat.....
it works!
and remember, salty lassi only, sweet will make it worse!
---------
dont give him any other thing that u eat, no matter how hard he asks, our dog does that....
---------
see if that helps, if in case you see no change then call the vet but it will work for sure!
goodluck!
