i also have 31 inch waist. some one on yahoo answers told me that its obvious that i am very very underweight. but when i went to the calculate your BMI website it was 20.5 which they said anything between 18.5-24.5 is normal/healthy weight for somebody of my height.
i always considered myself to be slim, but now i do feel i am skinny. i always thought i needed to gain abt 15-20 pounds to look absolutely perfect. what do u think ?

the data used to construct the BMI is based on statistical data from the 50's when the average body weight, etc. of both men and women in the US was substantially lower. for those that are not obese the BMI is absolutely useless as it does not take body composition into account. the purpose of the BMI is to address the health issues that are associated with central obesity, that's it.

based on data that is accurate for today an adult male that's 150 lbs at 6'0 is very light. you could easily gain 20+ lbs of muscle and still be light for you height based on statistical data that is based on the current body weight of males in the US

normal/healthy should be 20-25 in the BMI scale. you're underweight as far as ideal weight is concerned. 6ft people ideally weigh 175-180 lbs

Ignore the BMI system. It's flawed in many ways.

If you are content with your bodyweight, change nothing. If however you aren't happy with your bodyweight go about changing it.
