In a word, DO NOT do this. I recently read that a second foreigner was recently killed. This was in one of three provinces in the south. The provinces are Pattani, Narathiwat, and Yala. Also parts of Songkhla province. Comprenez-vous? They have been targeting Police, military, government officials, school teachers and just about anyone, in that order. Bombs are indescriminate on who they kill. If you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Then it is a problem.
The teachers are even striking for better protection.

Good luck and stay in the north or central.

If you love your life, better not try to come to this province. Thanks for your good intention, I think Thai people will be very appreciate. But to be hponest, it is not safe at all. Try to avoid Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat. Any other provinces in Southern Thailand are fine.
You really have a good mind, man

For your own safety please don't do this. Teachers, buddhist monks, policemen and civilians get killed in Southern Thailand. Muslim separatist groups which dominate the 3 provinces (Yala too).
