What do you think of this quote? What comes to your mind?

"The truth is, after the fall of the Muslim Empire in the 1800's, in many places culture and nationalism over shadowed the teachings of Islam. Take for example the tribal areas in Pakistan, where women are not given their rights despite the men being Muslims! This is suppression as seen by Islam! At the end of the day it is the responsibility of the people to ensure that they follow Islam so that everyone gets their rights. But unfortunately despite being many, the Muslims have strayed from the teachings of Islam. That is the same reason why no one should judge Islam based on the actions of an individual - because individuals can change but Islam does not change since it is the Truth from God."

People should understand the difference between Islam and Muslim.

Islam says don't drink alcohol. Many Muslims drink alcohol.

Islam says don't eat pork. Many Muslims eat pork.

It is the same way. There are so many verses taken out of context and pasted on the net. N then a Muslim goes and bombs up a place and presto! It is Islam which goes to trial!!!

It is like putting a car on trail which crashed and not the putting the driver on trial who was lousy and drunk who crashed the car in the first place.

So the answer to ur quetion is, no! Muslims don't need to turn back. But they do need to get united. Ponder more over their religion. N then will come a day........ full of peace and glory...

You deserve a STAR for this question. You see, I am a Muslim from the Middle East, and I am very disturbed by many things that happen in some Islamic countries. For example, I have travelled to many Islamic countries that are further to the East & I have discovered that they are not aware of true Islamic beliefs. Although they are all devoted Muslims, but they were taught wrong. For example, when you go to any of the Muslim countries in the far East, you find Muslim ladies wearing Hijab very beautifully but yet weraing short-sleeve shirts. In the Holy Quraan it was clearly stated that a women should only show her face and palms. Now, why is that happening? Muslims now are not reading Allah's book very often, it is rarely touched and this is what's causing all of this. I've seen with my own eyes an African woman lifting her dress (Abaya) in Makkah to wipe her sweat off her forehead. Now, this woman came all the way to the Holy Kaaba to perform Umrah, but yet, her information on this religion is very limited. Everything is mentioned in the Quraan, and now, the Quraan is translated to many languages, so there is no excuse. People should go back and read more of the Quraan to be able to understand the religion of Islam more clearly. God bless

If you want to judge how good is the latest model of the "Mercedes" car and a person who does not know how to drive sits at the steering wheel and bangs up the car, who will you blame? The car or the driver? But naturally, the driver. To analyze how good the car is, a person should not look at the driver but see the ability and features of the car. How fast is it, what is its average fuel consumption, what are the safety measures, etc. Even if I agree for the sake of argument that the Muslims are bad, we can’t judge Islam by its followers? If you want to judge how good Islam is then judge it according to its authentic sources, i.e. the Glorious Qur’an and the Sahih Hadith.

If you practically want to check how good a car is put an expert driver behind the steering wheel. Similarly the best and the most exemplary follower of Islam by whom you can check how good Islam is, is the last and final messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Besides Muslims, there are several honest and unbiased non-Muslim historians who have acclaimed that prophet Muhammad was the best human being. According to Michael H. Hart who wrote the book, ‘The Hundred Most Influential Men in History’, the topmost position, i.e. the number one position goes to the beloved prophet of Islam, Muhammad (pbuh). There are several such examples of non-Muslims paying great tributes to the prophet, like Thomas Carlyle, La-Martine, etc.

From the moment our Prophet died Islam became more political then spiritual or religious....the moment a new ruler comes into power in any Islamic country the first thing he does to gain popularity is to expand the rights of men(especially those that follow him) and restrict the rights of women(to show how he is determined to bring the "real' Islam back to his country). Men rejoice, women suffer.

Thats why I dont believe the hadeeth that presumedly the prophet said...."any country ruled by a woman will fail." Not only is it weak but I dont see men doing a very good job of it either....especially the so called Islamic countries. In each and every muslim country in the world today(and for centuries past) muslim women have had to "fight" for their rights. The fact that we have to fight for anything that God gave us should prove to everyone out there that Islam has become Hislam...a religion created by man for man...women are extras.

I agree sister. Simplifying our lives and needs is what all Muslims should strive towards. Two of the biggest dangers I feel are materialistic greed and self-righteousness. Other dangers are the introduction of innovations, which means mixing some falsehood with Truth - the two don't go together. Pure Islam is Truth. Sectarianism and egoism in respect of that is another danger and has led to fragmentation of the Ummah. This religion as it is meant to be practiced is a religion of mercy and peace and non-worldliness. Let us hope that Muslims will get less complacent and work harder to purify their inner NaFS.

Salam alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh.

True. I would also add that Muslims not only need to understand religion but to understand it with all the new challenges of modern times. That is extremely important. They have to be on top of everything (sciences, social sciences, technology, history) to be able to emerge as what Islam requires of them.

Years ago I had a young Muslim friend who explained her belief to me as, "We are all flowers in Allah's Garden." Kept me from condemning or fearing Muslims for years, especially the black American ones like Carrie and Muhammed Ali whom at that time was known as Cassius Clay. Since 9/11 kind of put a damper on this, I just don't get involved any more.
I don't actively seek Muslims out to persecute them, just let them live and let live and leave it up to more educated people to form a yay or nay opinion.

If those tribal villages had freedom of and from religion, they could just make laws that are ethical towards women and not have to worry about following any religious ideology.
