They are two different words with two different meanings. One is a verb and the other is an adjective. An example for you: I want to lose weight. I lost weight and now my clothes are loose.

I wouldn't say everyone spells 'lose' like 'loose'. I don't! I'd say it's up there with people who put apostrophes on the ends of words to make them plural.

I don't think I've seen anyone spell it wrong on here yet. But a lot of people do get confused over the too and can get annoying when you have to reread it to understand what they mean.
