I'm in California living off the GI Bill. I paid extra for the kicker...extra $600 and now I get $1224/month, (DEFINETLY WORTH IT!!!) The GI Bill does not pay based on your expenses or amount of tuition or cost of living. Whatever amount of units your taking will determine how much you get. $1224 for a full time student (12 units) and they deposit that whole amount into your bank account. You will continue to get paid that amount until you have used up all your GI Bill money...I think it's around $30-$35,000.......Last about 3 years.

They give you a flat rate depending on how many semester/quarter units you are taking in school. It has nothing to do with the cost of living for the state or area you live in. The total value of the GI Bill for education right now is $37,000 and you still only paid $1200 for that payout. Go to a UC or state school and you should have plenty of money if you live on a good budget.

My husband is retired from the Army and is using the GI Bill to finish his college degree. They will cover the cost of tuition, but as far as I know, there isn't any cost of living allowance. However, you could try getting in touch with your local VA office. They would be able to offer more help than we can.

Contact the nearest military base's education center. They'll be able to give you more information.
I am not sure on it, but I don't believe that the GI Bill will even cover cost of living.

the GI bill is not for cost of living, it is for college expenses such as tuition and books. It is a flat rate of slightly over $1,000 a month.

Current payments are $1,075.00 monthly
For full time students.
Limited to 36 months.
There are some special programs that can extend that time to 48 months.
There are no cost of living adjustments, because of where you go to school.

They don't give you anything...they reward you for killing people and not getting killed yourself.
Otherwise your family gets 20 grand and a flag.or something.
