Unconditional love is a kind of love when you love without expecting anything back i.e. you don't have certain conditions based on which you will love the person. So for instance, it doesn't have to be something like only if your girlfriend loves you will you love her.
It is something very hard to achieve and there is even talk that parental love may not necessarily be unconditional since they expect you to do well and in life and may not 'love' you if you don;t meet their expectations.
There is a term in psychology called 'unconditional positive regard' which therapists are supposed to have for their clients which is liking a client for who they are and seeing them in a positive light no matter what.
