Jews don't eat pork since it contravenes the laws given in Bamidbar (Leviticus) about what is and is not permissable to eat. Since we don;t look at anything beyond the Tanach (what you would call the old testament), for us those laws hold true and we adhere to them.

Christians that follow the new testament and the changes made to the laws there do eat pork- but then they do lots of other things that are forbidden by Jewish law as well (and have notions that are completely divorced from Judaism- making Christianity far closer to the earlier pagan religions than to Judaism.)

There are a lot of words in both testaments. Maybe the pork ban isn't the one word that God had put in both? "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by God; and without God was not any thing made that was made. In the word was life; and the life was the light of men."
So it seems the word is GOD not pork!

It does not say in the bible that you can not eat certain foods with the exception of from the tree of knowledge.
There are several interpitations of the Word of God. In one part of the bible (many to be sure but this one) Noah was told to .... Take 7 pair of each clean animal and 2 pair of each unclean. In another part of the bible a young man was starving and fell into a sleep, only to be awoken by the Voice of God. He awoke to a net full of... unclean food... and when told to eat he proclaimed his faith saying "Lord I can not eat of this food for it is unclean" God then told him ... It was made by my hand so it can not be unclean.

So it really depends on what you read where.

Typicaly the old Testament was a vengefull God so rules would be more strict
The new Testament was a loving God so the rules were not as strict.

I know this opens up more questions than it answered, but that is the way will all theological questions.

Christ came and fulfilled the Mosaic Law. (Matt. 5:17; Rom. 7:6; Col. 2:13, 14). Because of this Christians are no longer under the statues of the Law but are under the principles that the Law embodied.

So we can eat pork (unless a doctor suggests against it) but are under the obligation to love Jehovah God with our whole heart, soul and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves. Loving God and our neighbors is what the Mosaic Law was basically about. (Matt 22:36-40)

Nonetheless, we wouldn't want to purposely hurt the feelings of those who feel for religious reasons that eating pork is unacceptable. We should treat them the way we'd want to be treated and respect their choice. (Matt 7:12)

gods covenant plan changed 5 times in the old testament and came to perfection in the sixth covenant established through jesus christ.

the first 5 covenants were between
adam
abraham
noah
moses
david

each covenant came with
a mediator(adam,noah etc.....)
a blessing/condition
a curse(if not fulfilled)
a sign
and an impact on the moulding of gods family. more on this can be found at www.salvationhistory.com

there is a free study course that can be done at your own pace, the one dealing with the covenants is the first course lession 1-6.

regarding pork etc....these were laws somewhat coming from lack of information in the medical field amongst other things. understanding these things requires quite a deal of research. here are some sites that have helped me

as a roman catholic the catechism also helps. even if you are not catholic the catechism deals with issues most people have and is based on scripture. god bless.

Two different covenants. The dietary pork/kosher laws were from Leviticus. The main laws of God are the ten commandments, which are still valid.. even to Christians.

Don't listen to Miriam. She answered another question saying that genital mutilation was a way of showing faith in God.

Christians eat pork because they pick and choose which commandments in the Old Testament they want to follow. They are quick to quote passages condemning homosexuals and 9 of the Ten Commandments, but aren't so quick to talk about keeping the Sabbath or eating shellfish or blended fabrics.

Before Jesus came, God had to give people guidelines to live, because they were guilty for their own sins. Jesus died so that we could be made free of sin (not sin-free though) and therefor we can eat pork, and another example is that we dont have to bring living sacrifices any longer.

Allah is the only one God.The genuine/right Allah's instruction for prohibiting to eat pork is in the Torah that is the same with Allah has spoken in the holy Qur'an..Muslims and jews are prohibited to eat pork because God has not allowed it to be eaten..Pig is very dirty animal and its meat is too fatty. The holy Bible is not genuine/original anymore such as the verse of prohibition of eating pork is changed by dirty hand that only wild pig can not be eaten..In line with a reseach made by a former catholic follower Hj Irene Hadono that almost 80% of the verses of Bible are false.
